I am at 2.75 from the fret to the string now. Major improvement. I think I'll start doing my own setups now...

Right and right. The best thing about doing your own, other than the
money saved, is the convenience of tweaking to your own personal
needs, whenever you want. You will tend to get away from standard
settings and just do whatever works for you. It's still good to start out
with std settings and see what changes you feel you want ... or none.
Standard settings are not to be shunned, as they are the best point-of-
departure from which to personalize your set up.

That 2.75mm is supposed to be a good starting point [often a keeper]
but be sure you also have just a hint of relief in your neck/FB. Action
height alone is not the indicator of playability. Relief is very important. If
relief is not reasonable, you can mess with other aspects all you want
but one end or the other of the neck will be either buzzy or
uncomfortably high.

Finally, on a Wick you get an adjustable nut. It's a bit harder to describe
how to deal with the nut. I tear the cover off a matchbook and put it
between the high string and 1st fret. It should slide in with just enuf
friction to indicate that the gap is not wider than the thickness of the
cover, but not be real tight. If you press the 12th fret, you will get more
friction, but you can still slide the cover back out if you tug at it gently.

Once you have the high string set up, do the low string the same way
and then increase the clearance just a bit on that side. It will prolly buzz
the open string before increasing clearance, especially using a firm
pluck aound the 15th fret. Just raise it til the buzz is minimal or gone
[personal taste]. Personally, I expect to retain a hint of buzz plucking at
the 12th or 15th fret yet have no buzz when plucking in the PU area.

Personal preference depends on how much you play the lowest frets
and how hard you wanna work at playing them. Also, too high an action
up there will mess up your intonation a bit.

Whats wrong with leaving it in Eb? just play 1/2 a step up to where you would play on an E neck and then u have the extra low Eb to go to if you need it
