i read that these must sound pretty good. and seems to have quite the same specs as the original streamers, but i'm not sure.
 
you're right.

if you look closely, you can see that the bodies are different.
the horns are different, and it even looks like the left one has a smaller body...
 
i understand why you say that.
you're looking at the lower horn of the pink one, right ?

for me, they look quite a lot like the spectors.
but with warwick bridge.

Not too shabby though... I'm sure theyre built with quality... But I've never been a fan of the streamer shape. I'm more of a thumb rip off kind of guy :P

too bad all the thumb ripoffs i've seen so far sucked :D :D
 
come on be honest, would you like to rip it off with a thumb rip-off ?

i mean, there are basses that look quite the same (dean sledgehammer), and there are basses that are made quite of the same woods, with the same features (fame baphomet), but a warwick thumb is a warwick thumb.

no matter what rip off it is, there can only be one original, right ?
(eccept for streamers: there are 2 originals: spector and warwick)
 
looks like a mixture of a warwick and spector, warwick bridge, warwick /spector body and spector headstock.
 
I actually found one really nice thumb copy... Some guy wanted a thumb but couldn't afford it so he made his own. Just the body shape, And used a Warmoth neck. It turned out pretty nice... Hold on while I attempt to find the link!
 
I'd take a thumb rip off... Heck, I'd do my own :)

I'd make something crazy... and chances are it would be wayyyy cheaper than a CS :P

Maybe... A wenge body with macassar ebony top, wenge neck/wenge fretboard, macassar ebony headstock veneer, 6 string broadneck.

I've actually been pondering building my own bass lately. Although it won't be a thumb copy... It will have the woods listed above and 6 string broadneck :)

Plus I really dislike the $$ pickups :P
 
That thumb copy looks like it was molested by a streamer...those horns are too fat!

Also, the streamer copies have bodies that are longer looking than Warwick ones, plus, the neck p/u is tolo far forwards and not mirrored!
 
The early streamers were very slim, and delicate looking. These two look bigger. Also, the pickup position is not similar to a SSI.
They use a Schaller 3D like on early streamers.

Looks like an elephant sat on the original Thumb..................*squish*. :lol:
 
It's more likely that they are imitating Spectors since they are way better known than Streamers. At least here in America. Canadian maker Lado did a gorgeous Spector copy, neck through, contoured body, the one I saw was transparent emerald green, I'm not a huge fan of green anything, but this bass looked incredible.

It's that difference that has me seeing more Spector than Streamer, but the P-PU split is in the traditional Fender config, so in practice it's not really a Spector-type either.

The magic of the Warwick $$ seems to come from crowding the humbers very close together. So this bass is an amalgam of Spector/Warwick [woodwork] and GnL/EBMM [PU config] and various "rock star artist signature" LE's [single knob]. Inneressin. Maybe it's a way cool ax, or not. What is it ?
