earlier stage1 year of manufacture ?

Hi just got this Stage 1 , she's in great condition obviously not played all that much .
I'm wondering what year the bass is from as it has no SN on the headstock or anywhere that I can see !!
Any Info on this bass would be great .

check for a serial number at the very top of the headstock (above the W) since these early ones have their there and not behing the tuning keys. if not, try checking for a handwritten one inside he elec cavity for one.

nice bass. how much you paid for it? hoa many kidneys you had to give for this?

body looks like Flamed Maple and neck seems to be 7 piece maple- Wenge. The elecs have been changed to Bartolinis (unless this is a CS not stock, that's why it also has the switch in there (black switch). The other thing is that since all the hardware is gold and the switch is black lets me know this was modified. still a very nice bass. The fretboard seems to be Wenge, bell brass frets 2 pices bridge and angled tuners which should make this bass more into the 90's.

try the walls of the elec cavity, take some pics and post of the headstock... this is weird.

I guess have you tried to dismount the bridge and pick ups to see if it was written inside those cavities? if no serial number is found there I have no idea.

I just picked up a Streamer and I thought had no serial number and since it had a high gloss solid color finish I thought I had no number. Then I checked the top of the headstock and with serious light I was able to see some scribbles in there where i found it.

Nope , nothing on the headstock top / my early 90's thumbs both have on the headstock top !!

Is the bass lacquered (I'd expect a natural waxed finish)? The reason I ask is that the last pic of the headstock seems to show either some shadow or dirty wood off to the side of the top of the headstock and yet the area where the SN should be, looks very clean... like it has been sanded possibly before being lacquered.

Due to the one control cavity, no volute on the neck, headstock shape, Warwick branded tuners and assuming the 3 band EQ is original, I'd say that the bass is a nice example of an early 90's Stage I.

Odd that someone might remove the serial number :?

What does that switch do?
 
I had one almost exactly the same, I would say 1990/1991

did it come with the switch too?

I am wondering if this had a swap in the electronics because of that switch with different color than all the hardware.
 
Yeah, that switch is not stock! Even the earlier catalogs never had a Streamer Stage I with a switch...

If there's no serial number anywhere in the electronics cavity, along the walls, etc., then it has to have been sanded off for some reason...

But I agree it looks like a '90/'91.
 
Sorry, i didn't even notice the switch.

Mine had no switch, but it did have barts and the same combo of woods.

Mine had dot markers on the fingerboard; it was a 1990.

I think the lack of dots puts this one around 91?

the switch was installed by the previous owner to switch the pups to series or
parallel .
I very much doubt that the SN was sanded off / the finish/varnish is totally consistent.
I know that this bass had one owner and got it direct from the now defunct ex dealers here / it had been a 'showpiece' for many years prior to purchase . The guy I got it from bought it in 98 .

It looks to be from the early '90s, probably a 92- 93. Beautiful bass!!!
