heyy i was wondering if the warwick people could help me get some answers about the custoum shop.
well im planning to get a warwick thumb nt 5 by winter and i was wondering how much it would cost more to get other woods but same pickups electrics and everything.
so i was thinking of:

headstock: Thuya Burl
fingerboard: Birdseye Marple
Neck : Birdseye Marple
Body : Thuya Burl

no inlays no leds no nth.

oh well i would like to have some frets tho ;)

just tell me what u think what the sound might be like and what it would cost me.
and to be honest i just picked the thuya burl because it looks best (in my opinion) i really love zebrano as well but its getting to light for me..

ah well lets say i get my name as an inlay it wont cost a lot more..
 
Burls in general are porous woods, and don't have a lot of acoustical qualities... With a maple neck and fingerboard, you'll have most or the color to your sound come from there: bright...

Burls are only available as tops, and thus the back of your bass would be (as a Warwick default) swamp ash. This could somewhat add some roundness and boominess to the tone, but a maple neckthrough is gonna be hard to balance if you don't like a bright tone...

As for cost, based on the european pricelist, the options you list add about 2000 euros
(770 for the neck, 173 for the fingerboard, 232 for the headstock, 135 for the top (plus 484 for a high polish or satin finish, essential for a burl top), and 176 for a nameplate)

to the list price of a thumb NT (3628 €)...

So we're looking at a 5500 euros list price, but your local distributor can likely get you a better price...

iirc,you can indeed use Thuya burl as a body wood.
What Jan says is true of woods like bukeye burl.But woods like burled walnut is simply figured walnut.The word "burl"is often used to describe figuring,like bird'seye,flamed,quitled,spalted & pomelle.
Thuya burl is quite expensive though.
 
it certainly looks expensive. :S can some1 get me a nice overview about the differend kinds of woods and their tone and everything. i guess there is such thread allready but i really suck in using the search funktion :S

The Warmoth website is excellent for the tonal description of different woods.
