Corvette Standard 5 String -- Year Model?

I've just ordered a used Warwick Corvette Standard 5 String used (I couldn't resist the price) so now I can finally be a bit closer to my favorite bassist (even though he uses a streamer stage II /cry).

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what year model it is. When I get it, will it be easy to tell anywhere on it? I'm assuming it has active electronics, but I think I've seen some people saying they are passive. Did different year models have different electronics? Any information would be appreciated.

Well, it's impossible to tell the year it was made unless you have the serial number on the back of the headstock. For example K 138544 07 - It's made in November 2007.
It has passive electronics :)

Yep, as stated above - passive electronics (otherwise the 3rd control knob would be stacked/double for bass & treble controls instead of just a single tone control knob). Looks like a nice bass - bubinga i reckon! 8) The last 2 digits of the serial no' tell you the year of manufacture.
 
Thanks for the quick response! I'll take a look at the serial when I get it.

One other question. I got it fairly cheap even though it's supposedly in mint condition, but it has a mark left by a sticker. Any ideas on removing it? I think the mark can be seen in the first picture I posted, but it's hard to tell.
 
Good chance that sticker mark will come out with some cleaning and waxing without any problems.
 
your bass has a brass nut, so when its original i think it might be made around the mid 90 till millenium!
 
And the old flush mounted straplocks, and a slighty different body shape, slicker... I'd say it's around 95. It has Wenge neck too. passive pickups, passive tone control. an animal!

the sticker glue will come off with a good clean with Lemon Oil or goo gone. I always clean my recently acquired basses' bodies and fretboards with lemon oil because they need to feed and the Lemon Oils is the best thing otu there i have found to do this. try and see how the frets will shine too.

The presence of an stacked knob would dictate if it is passive elecs or active. if no stack they are passive.

all pick ups are passive, it is just the elecs that are either passive or active.

there are active pickups and passive pickups. Most of the warwick basses have active pickups, you can recognize them after the gold logo. This one has passive pups, silver "Dynamic Correction" logo.
 
Thanks for the correction Flo. As I said i am at work so i can't see any pics. i am just going by what the threads read so i did not see the Dynamic correction line if i had i would have said passive, passive.

Wow, thanks for all the replies guys! I haven't been playing bass too terribly wrong. I currently have a Yamaha TRB1005 and I love it. I've always wanted to try a Warwick but my local music store seems to be a bit toBIASED (Hehe, get it?). Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing it. Hope it sounds great.

I have another question. I've emailed the seller about this but he hasn't replied yet. I've noticed the strap holders don't seem to be there. Just metal holes (it's hard to tell). I'd like someone else's opinion on it please! Here's some more pictures:
 
I've only had two basses. Can you explain how these type work? A google search didn't help much.
 
You fit the strap locks to your strap & they insert into the bass body.To remove your strap you simply push on the button.It's the same as the current strap locks except these are counter sunk to give the body a cleaner look.
 
Yes you can use you current strap.Just make sure the seller sends the strap locks.
