corvette sound

bonjour lovely people!

I've played bass guitar for almost a year now, and I think I'm ready to move on to a proper instrument.
Warwick is one of the things that got me into playing bass in the first place, (a friend's father owns a custom Streamer Stage I, DROOL!) so warwick's a pretty logical choice for me.
As you can see in the title I'm interested in a corvette, mainly due to the VERY interesting pricetag. The only thing I'm a bit worried about is the sound. I'd really like the bass to be able to produce a warm, deep 'upright bass-like' sound. Therefore I'm planning to go for a fretless std corvette, and then dress it with flatwound strings. Will this be enough to get the sound I want?

Bubinga body, Ovangkol neck, Ebony fingerboard is a great combo for that type of sound. Got a Corvette Std. fretless myself, but I use roundwounds for a more aggressive growl. Plenty of sweet "mwah" though...

It's not really the 'mwah' I mean, more like the soft round low thumps of an upright, the jazzy sound, because I'd like to be able to play loungy/jazzy stuff, without that aggressive growl.
Would that be possible for a standard corvette?

i reakon your technique can get you close to this sound without even considering the bass

however i do reakon the ash corvette BO in the bass you need

It's totally possible with a Bubinga Vette STD. Throw some flatwounds on there, turn the bass up and the treble down and bam! I've done this before and got a very nice upright jazzy sound. The mwah is produced with boosted mids so keep those low and the bass high and you'll be fine. Plus you'll have the option of getting the growl if you choose to later.

I have the Corvette Std. 4 fretless passive with bubinga/ovangkol,ebony and it has the most beautiful sound ever - Its not extremely expensive but sounds perfect to me - The setting i use most is bridge pickup all the way and just a tiny turn of treble

wait until the new basses come out. there is a hollow body. depending on the price tag, you could get a fretless one of those and you would get great upright tone.
