Will the Corvette Pro Line ever make back into Warwick's line up? I received a Warwick catalog the other day . And in the catalog it listed the Pro line. Now I went to Warwick's web site to see if it was back, but I only found it available through the custom shop. So if any of you wickaholics could shed some light on this for me. Plus I know there is already a sticky for the corvette club, but if any of you guys have a pro line I would enjoy seeing your pics.
 
well i am a Wickaholic per my signature (came out of the closet :lol: :lol: LOL )

I think they gotdiscontinued because of the rising costs of the flamed maple. I also think marketing had a lot to do with it since they sounded awesome and many people were buying them instead of the more expensive models (I could be wrong but that was the impression I got).

I think Doc is a fan of prolines and he was recentoly taped in a video with Victor Wooten and he is playing his proline in that video (a red one). Also Carey the Label Guy has a Proline.

The Proline is listed in the 2008 catalogue.
This model is still available with Standard option through the Custom Shop !
 
The catalog I received a month ago, I assumed it out of date as it doesn't feature the Dark Lord and has the LTD 2006 bass listed.

Well, maybe you live in the wrong year then? Sometimes I feel I was born too late, as well.
 
I got several PMs of forumers asking about Doc' s video. Here is a thread where you can find more info about that. Also "Doc' is his prior forum name now he is "Michael J".

Yeah, i got lucky. If i were to rate it, i would say it is a AAAA piece of maple. The Proline spec calls for AA, but aften times, you get a little more than expected.
 
Cary's Proline is currently at my house for some minor tweakage and TLC... I'd go with the AAAA on it as well having seen it in person, at the very least an exceptional AAA. My Proline 5 is definitely AA with ambitions of greatness 8) Maybe with years of playing, it'll darken enough to show the hidden grain :roll: . ~M~
 
It seems all set neck basses are also d/c'd, so your only option for that Vamp is the CS. It's a real shame about the SN basses, they ran the neck half way into the body, the most amazing SN basses I've ever seen. My SN Dolphin has the same rock solid feel as my Rickenbacker, which is neck through. BO basses never achieve that same feeling of solidity, at least to me.
 
I own, and love my Pro Line... Got back
home last night and am thinking of taking
her out of the case I locked'er in two weeks
ago.

Methinks it's time she sees some light
of day tonight.

is AA, but maybe a nice subtle AAA.

My first Warwick was a Corvette Proline in 1995 :-)
 
I know what you mean, Tyler - Mine's never been good at pictures either but it's great in person 8) .. ~M~
 
I love my Proline, and my only complaints are the highs are too subtle and I can't get harmonics anywhere near what I can get on my Thumb. Harmonics are almost non-existent in the higher register. Anyone have any idea of how to boost them?
 
Warfender - I don't know how you
would 'fix' them, personally, I have
no problem getting nice crisp nuances
out of my Pro Line in the higher and
lower registers.

I've been thinking about this for awhile
now, and have been wandering how
any of you would compare the Proline
to a SSI?

I only ask because of the similarities
in wood, I'm certain the preamps are
different, which is bound to change
a few things.

However, as you're reading, my curiosity
has gotten the best of me.

So, anyone?

Try smaller gauge strings. Check out the picture below, you can see it as a visualization of the string
motions that produce the overtones. When you hit an open string it makes all these motions at the same
time. It's quite intuitive that the thicker the string the more rigid it is and the harder you can make it have
high frequency oscillations. In fact the deciding factor is not string thickness but string core thickness.

I just got a similar instrument a Streamer LX with a maple neck so it's practically the same woods.
5th and 7th fret sound ok, 9th is practically non existent! I am using 45 gauge strings and the
scale is 32" which makes it even worse. I will try 40s as well since my bass is as tight as my 34"
inch non-Warwick.
