Ok, so except in Japanese Fenders and G&L's, I really have never liked maple necks. I really would love something like a Wenge neck on an NT Corvette, but I don't know if thats a legitimate possibility. What kind of similar options would I have for a neck-thru bass?

Wenge for a NT Corvette is certainly an option you could go with. My CS NT5 Vette is getting an ovangkol neck for instance. You'd want to contact the CS for the latest list of woods that could be used other than maple by emailing them. [email protected] is a good place to start, as are our mods odominguez (Oliver) and Florin. They can help you out with specs and options too. Welcome to the forum and good choice on the Vette!! ~M~

i think the maple on the neck was chosen to keep the balance of the tone and stop it being muddy at all. just something to keep in mind

Hey Tony, I may be wrong but it sounds like your saying that you dont like the profile of maple necks. For all warwicks the necks have the same profile.

no, its not the profil, its the actual wood. I love the feel of Wenge, it just moves more effortlessly. I Would go with a Wenge/Ash combination, so the ash should balance the tone out some more.

I was askin because I didnt think the Wenge necks were as heavily finished as the bodies.

As for the sound-balance: You are probably better of with the Ash one then the Bubinga one, maybe even think of a nive flamed maple to to go with that Wenge neck :D

Good luck choosing ;)

My Corvette FNA is Ovangkol, Wenge (neck) and Ash, Maple and Walnut (body), so I already like the balance in tone. I just want the added speed of a wenge neck, the added stiffness of a thru-neck design, and the added punch of a second MM pickup.

...and i'd be purdy, too! :D
