Corvette $$ 5, Gastroks beats

Hey everyone, thought i'd share my Wick sound. Just some sloppy lines over the great beats Gastrok shared with us, thanks a lot for those man been very useful to a learner such as myself. I'm currently making the leap from playing covers to actually making my own lines and these are the two i've come up with so far. So here's me just improvising around them.

First it's the Heavy Rock 120bpm beat, then the Funk rock 96bpm!

Playing could be cleaner, but i've had a couple beers and not in the mood for multiple takes!
There's also a few clipping issues when slapping, but it's not too bad.
All comments and criticism very welcome, this is my first tries at writing basslines and I've only been playing since last xmas so cut me a little slack atleast

Also for anyone wanting to know, it's my wick through my little practice amp then into my soundcard, I've left all the sound clean and pickups are both serial.

Kinetic, thanks bro for trusting my opinion, but I can assure you we have some really great players on the forum, you can trust them more than you trust me.

But I will give you a straight answer

You still need to work on your timing. I am sure the beers didn't helped either. You like slap, and a clean method like Tony Oppenheim's "SLap It" will bring you a steady technique and a large vocabulary of grooves.

Very good sound though, and this is only partially the bass. The $$ sounds actually better than I expected, I don't like them very much, it means you have a pretty firm right hand. Cool!

I'd say you are a talented guy, and you need to focus more on "bassist's things" like steady tempo, groove, and vocabulary.

That's what I'm talking about Thanks alot for the words man. I'll take it to heart and do my best to improve, I'll post a clip here and there if I make something real nice.

I was particularly impressed with how the tone came through, sounds very nice, especially as it's all clean . There were a couple big timing slip ups in there that were down to the beer, but overall I can get it much tighter.

If anyone else has anything to add I'd love to hear it, help shape a new bass player!

Warwick EMPs, they're the best sounding to me, nice bite to them.

Also it's a 5 string with the fatter neck profile, so I have no doubt that big old slab of Ovangkol helps make it all much tighter sounding than what $$'s normally are.
