Everyone I know loves that movie.....there's obviously something wrong with me because I just can't get into it.

I think I need to watch it again just to make sure

I would love to get a hold of this film but I can't find any DVD's that will play in region 1. Known as "The Rebel" or "I am Genius" it's comedic film about a business office clerk become avant-garde artist. Here are a few clips I've found on YouTube--

I like the photo-Goth girls in these clips which spoof the abstract art scene of the early-60's- one of the perks of being an artiste!

Yes, but there weren’t any for region 1

I’m currently inquiring about one I just found on eBay- you would think that relatively obscure films would not be Region restricted

Yes, but it if you'll notice the advisory below the item description, it states that it is Region 2 (UK and Europe I believe) and will not play in most DVD players made for North America--

Let me see what Apple says- I have iMac and MacBook Pro--

I'm new here, but quite likely will be a regular contributor to this thread. I love films, and usually watch a couple a week.

Some of my all time favorites:

    American History X
    Big Fish
    The Big Lebowski
    A Clockwork Orange
    Defendor (underrated!)
Dogma (sorry, but possibly the only Kevin Smith movie I like)
The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    Frank
    Fur
    The Great Dictator (Chaplin!)
    Holy Mountain
    Mulholland Drive
    Napoleon Dynamite
    Pan's Labyrinth
    Slaughterhouse-Five
    Son of Rambow
    Synecdoche NY
    Welcome to the Dollhouse

An interesting list for sure - you might like Mamoru Oshii’s Avalon and Jean Luc Goddard’s Alphaville

I love Pi. Great film. I'll put the other two in my queue.

Cool, I'll have to check that out. I've actually been contemplating writing a novel. It's just such a daunting task. But for some reason, every summer when I go camping, all these ideas start coming to me for this fantasy type novel.

Have you heard of Jack Kerouac? I think you would like his stuff - these are the big five

    On the Road
    The Dharma Bums
    Desolation Angels
    The Subterraneans
    Big Sur

    Aren’t those titles awesome?

Yeah, I dig Kerouac. I think I've only read On the Road, though.

Not a film but a BBC series I have enjoyed- here’s a clip that I can relate to (allegorically speaking, that is).
