What you use for cleaning natural finish basses? Or you just wax them?
Can i use substances for furniture cleaning ?

I first clean it with a slighty humidified, soft cloth and then I just wax it.

Lots and lots and lots of wax. Amazes me how much nicer the wood looks each time you do it. Found out how soft swamp ash is though when I managed to drop the tin on the body

When I fisrt got my thumb (secondhand) it was filthy so I took ULTRA FINE wire wool and white spirit to it to remove all the grubby wax. I then gave it some coats of new clean wax and it worked out well!

I'm sure others will disagree with this method but it worked for me.

I think I detect the first signs of obsessive behaviour, Mart. That's why I'm not keen on getting a natural finish. When I'm not actually playing the bass, I'm tinkering with it, when I'm not tinkering, I just look at it!

If I had to wax it as well I'd be at it like Lady Macbeth trying to remove her "damned spot"!

Steve, you could be right.........even thought about using the damp cloth and iron to get the dent out, realised it was time to get a grip! It's this sort of thing that stopped me swapping my MM for a Thumb the other week.

I just love smearing warm wax over those sumptuous curves!

Just wax mate, if there's any dirt, a slightly damp clean cloth should fix that right up,followed by a good waxing, remembering to buff (polish) the wax off. You'll know you've done a good job by the improved appearance of the wood,"coming to life".I've been waxing my 03 thumb each week since new & the wood just seems to get better looking with each waxing.Imagine how good it'll look when i'm 86 & have hands riddled with arthritis, I better start practicing with my toes.
