Choosing my second Warwick 5`er.

"Yo", guys.

I need a second fiver to back up my Vampyre at gigs, but I`m not sure what to get really. I want a bass that has the W-growl and can be an allround bass, preferably with a bit more bassy/juicy mids than the Vampyre. Now, I can`t afford to spend more than 1000-1200£, and looking at specs and looks, my eyes fancy some of these:

Will bubinga make a big difference, and what sounds do they produce? Of course, they have to fit into metal.
 
I`m really curious about the Streamer $$, though, but if I should get that one in bubinga, it will probably cost way more. I have no idea of US Swamp Ash` audible qualities.
 
...although the homepage says it has the "right sound for every situation".
 
A Streamer $$ with a bubinga body, an ovangkol neck and an ebony board would be AWESOME.
 
If you are lucky you can get a used SSII for £1200. Not impossible.
 
Mids = bubinga. My Corvette Std. has been my go-to for years now and has never let me down.
 
I wouldn't choose Ash-$$. Sounded to muddy for me. Corvette Std. 5 (with active PUs also) sounds very tight, it's a great bass!

I use it mostly for funk and soul, and it gets really cool. With the neck pickup you can obtain a splendid jazz-like for soul. With the bridge pickup and boosting the mids and highs you get tha dirty funky Warwick.

Well, I don`t mind my next bass being dirty, `cause the Vampyre has that counterpart covered. And I never downtune more than a whole step, anyways. If the Streamer $$ Swamp Ash with active electronics can be a versatile monster which I can bring to a funk/rock gig, and then whip up little cripsy treble if the Vamp should break a string, or to go with that Motorhead-overdriven sound, the Streamer $$ Swamp Ash it could be. I don`t know if I`ll afford the bubinga wood. I guess it will add some hundred Euros.
 
I'd never consider my Ash Corvette $$ to be muddy, it can be if you want it to be but with a decent amp you can make it very clear too. Especially with the neck bucker on single coil and the bridge on parallel and some boosted high or low mids on amp...mmm.
Corvette standard will always be a bit tighter but much more limited in sound, so it's upto you.
 
Difficult choices, yes. I have to get that Corvette Std in Nirvana Black Oil, since I don`t dig the shape to much(except the $$), and I really dig the Streamer $$. It will be used mostly with standard tuning, though. I don`t reckon I`ll buy any more basses after this one, I just need that last 5`er for initial backup and allround use. Maybe as my "Fender", if you will.

Well it's really hard to decide unless you try them both and decide by yourself.

Really hard to choose by words, better by ear :-)

...and it`s even harder to find both and try them. Well, maybe not the Corvette though. And in lefthand. We`ll see. :) I`ve inquired CS for the price on a Streamer $$ Bubinga.
 
I don't think there is a huge diference between the Corvette $$ and the Streamer $$ (both ash) apart from aesthetics...

I tried both before choosing the Streamer, the vette sounded a little "artificial" compared to the Streamer, but that's my opinion.

With all this I mean you could have an aproximated opinion trying an ash Vette $$, which is widely extended and easy to find (correct me if I'm wrong).

Corvette Std Bubinga is just another story, another sound, really cool also, pure warwick growl.
