Not sure what the reserve is, but it's attracted no bids so far.

Looks like a nice one too :)
 
Yup, been looking at this one, bu having tried the 5er at Electro decided I still hate 5s. Still, I've got it on my watch list to see what it finally goes for. Also cant get a thumb until the vette goes......sob

i'd place a bid if it was to all of the EU.
 
Well, I wouldn't rely on that. My Thumb was originally only to be shipped within the U.K. and I still got it over here. You just have to contact him.

It wasn't that cheap in the end £850 was about the market value IMO
 
:) Yup Steve - still on the 1 in 1 out. How you getting on with the Thumb? How's the weight compared to your $$?

Anyhow, not sure if a new bass is the priority, it's getting time for amp swap. As I only carry 1 amp I have a 4 year policy cos I can't afford to get stranded. Been looking at the MarkBass stuff - low weight/happy back.
 
Mart. The Thumb is heavy for its size... "reassuringly heavy" I would say. It was only a problem when we had a monster rehearsal session recently and I had it strapped on for 4 hours. No problem for all reasonable use. The tone is ideal for what I'm playing at the moment - heavy-ish rock. I'm addicted to the two pick-up centre-balanced tone, and use it for almost everything - just three or four songs where I bias towards the bridge, for a bit more cutting twanginess. The $$ (for me) covers all the bases the Thumb doesn't, in case I did a gig with a former band or something!

The Mark Bass amps are amazingly light. I've got a 12" combo (13lbs) and a 15" extension speaker - can carry one in each hand! I use the combo for rehearsals and add the speaker for gigs. The extension speaker certainly adds a great deal - but as I'm going through the PA and only need it as a monitor, not sure if I needed the extension speaker at all! I also keep my trusty Ashdown combo as a back-up.

Sound from the Mark bass is great - but try before you buy! I use an Aphex bass exciter and an EBS multi-drive (set on a very mild drive only) before the amp - just adds a bit of edge to the sound. I reckon the 2x10 combo would be a very good buy (just a touch heavier than the 1x12") and teemed with the 15" extension speaker would be a huge sound!
 
Cheers Steve. The most I normally do is 2 x 30 minutes followed by a 1hr30min, but TBH I sometimes find the MM Sterling starts to make my shoulder ache by the end (10lbs). The 'vette (9lbs) is normally no problem in this respect. Pretty sure I'll end up going Thumb BO4 at some point tho, just wish I could afford the NT :D

My TE combo is 32Kg - a handfull for a small guy like me. I like the sound but not the lift in and out of my (unfriendly) Celica. I was thinking of the LM2 or the LM250 with the 1 x 15", you're not the first person to say 'try b4 u buy' - why's that?

Mart... If you're an optimist, the Mark Bass amp reproduces the "natural tone of your bass". If you're a pessimist, it's a bit "Hi-Fi". Got a nice surprise when I tried the Thumb out at Soundcontrol through one of the new TEs. Sounded bloody awesome. If they could make one of those that weighed 13lbs (or maybe it's 13KGs - it's light anyway) I get one tomorrow! So I got the EBS pedal to spice it up a bit (for rock, anyway - for other styles the Mark Bass might be spot on). As I had a hip replacement just over a year ago, a heavy amp is not a real option, but the Mark Bass is not a bad compromise at all! The rest of the band just can't get over how powerful it is for its size... they're hauling Marshall Stacks around - and I still haven't turned the volume up over a quarter.

I actually preferred the Thumb BO over the NT (some people do). If I was playing the fretless like a fretless - rather than an electric bass without frets (does that make sense) I'd probably go for the NT. I prefer the punch to the sustain.
