CAUTION with the just-a-nut!

Hello everyone! I leave this message to warn you about an accident that happened to me, and save a nuisance! I was calibrating my bass and I wanted to change the height of the nut as i started to use a lower gauge strings. Having tested several times to find the proper height,Suddenly the nut down to the most minimum of one fell swoop, and when I revisit what happened, it appears that the thread of a screw was isolated..Pass a hard time .. And I had to put a cardboard to make a wedge temporarily! and I do not like to see in this way my warwick! hehe :( I know it is something simple, but know that the thread is very delicate and preferably should loosen the strings to move this .. it was my mistake but I would like to just - a-nut having metal thread!

I think I understand your problem,you stripped the thread on one of the adjustment screws on your Just-A-Nut 2 or JAN3.
The strings dont need to be loosened to adjust the nut height,that's the beauty of the JAN.I suspect the thread was already damaged possibly by being cross threaded when it was tapped at the factory.It's always wise to be carefull when engaging the screws for the first time to prevent cross threading when you get a new nut.
It's very easy to fix your bass,all you need is a craft knife & a tube of superglue.This link is a guide to changing your nut.

I'm thinking of getting 4 JAN3's to keep on hand for if or when the JAN2's that are on all my Warwick basses spontaneously deconstruct.
 
Even when the tabs break on a JAN 2,the bass is still perfectly usable.Ya just have to make sure you dont lose it when you change strings. :wink:
 
Thanks FunkyMan for the warning. I do know the threads are a little bit fragile, but not that fragile... You can adjust is with the strings on, that's for sure. I agree with Greg, maybe you hit the nut before (Hit your bass in the nut)

Oh that's not right. Hitting your bass in the nut? Hitting anything or anybody in the nut is the wrong thing to do.
 
Same thing happened to mien when adjusting .. and the slips broke. I've just put some small pieces of wood under it to prop it up at the moment but need to get a JAN 3 soon or a JAN 1 depending.
 
Thanks! No man, I believe that I have never beaten my bass haha! but I will be more careful when buying the other JAN! I also don`t like the idea of taking off the old, But have to do it, no big deal at the end! Indeed, New JAN III works on streamer jazzman 5??
