Broken machine head on 2004 Thumb BO

So, I was tuning up the D string today when all of a sudden the bridge end of the string went flying. I couldn't figure out what had happened, until I restrung it and started turning the tuner to no effect. Turns out the post has snapped off clean at the base - first time I've ever seen that happen, normally it's the gears strip out over time.

Fortunately for me, I had a spare Gotoh lying around from an old bass - but still, that could have happened on a gig. I keep a spare bass at hand, but I'd be missing the Thumb. Good excuse to get a second one

Malk had one bust after only a few months,& that was on a CS bass.They do break,but not very often.You should email Dominant,they might have a spare.
