Bass Sweeping

i use my thumb on the down stroke and my index on the up stroke. it takes alot of practice...
 
how do u sweep tap and how would u suggest practicing sweeping in both styles

sweeping its just going up one way and coming down a different one, look Up Erlends videos, he does it a lot and VERY VERY VERY VERY well.
 
do you have a link for the Erinds guy....and how do u sweep tap
 
i usually agree ben, but its fun in solos. Sweeping up a to a bitch sounds really cool, very al di meola-ish.
 
On Guitar sweeping can work...but not always with Bass =P

You do feel pretty bad ass when you finally figure out how to do it, no matter if it sounds good or not
 
while it is fun to do when you are jamming in the bedroom or warming up ... it really doesnt serve as much musical purpose, unless you are a solo bassist and it is part of your repertoire.

i do have some basslines that are similar to sweeping but i do not consider it such... i was basically just hitting an arpeggio along to the guitar line... not any of those dragonforce sweeps (which i find pompous)
