Yeah guys, if things go well, I will place an order for another custom Warwick soon... It will be my 4th CS order, but I've sold the 6 string LX since... I still have the LX5 (Bubinga) and the Stage 1 5.

My next CS will be lightly customised. Actually, except the fretboard and the hardware, it will be standard.

It's gonna be a Streamer Jazzman 5 string. Ocean Blue oil finish (reminiscence of my LX6, I loved the looks of it), black hardware, and tigerstripe ebony fretboard.

I want it to be simple and straightforward. I liked the Jazzman when I played it in the NYC custom shop. I also really like the clips of it on the Tube. I like its concept: a powerful Musicman pickup at bridge, Jazz at neck, and (almost) J/J when the MM is splitted. Versatility at its best. It should be very different from my other Streamers, so no redundancy here. Ebony for the looks and comfort (I don't like wenge), and for that extra "hifi" sound. I'm into modern tones.

Comfort-wise, it should be perfect: large thumb rest (MM pickup), new neck profile, narrow string spacing, quite light (at least not too heavy)...

What ya say?
 
I say you know your needs best. Sounds like a killer bass.

Hmmm, I should add that especially on a blue stain, I would choose gold hardware, it's just a killer combo to my eyes at least. It will also match the bell brass frets. I would also consider chrome hardware. Or why not satin chrome to give it something special since it's a fairly simple customization?

Chrome could be nice, but I love the look of a "all black" headstock...

It sounds awesome Ian.
The only things I'd consider changing would be to include a matched headstock, twin jazz pickup instead of the MM in the bridge & broadneck with extra slim profile. I know how you feel about gold hardware & wenge so I'll keep my big trap shut in that regard mate.
 
For my taste, I would chose Twin jazz too, like Greg said. But then again Yann, you loved that Jazzman in NYC, so I personally am afraid to give you advices, because it is possible to change your bass in one you don't like that much as the original.
 
Why no Stage 2? First it's very expensive. And I dont want another Warwick with J/J pickups...

The TJ pickup option could be cool, but I want a MM humbucker...

I'm with you on the j/j thats why i bought my Flanming blonde.. it's like a jazzman on steroids
 
You want my opinion? I think you already have all the bass you need! :d
 
You never have enough basses mate. Never.
 
I disagree. I mean no harm, quite the opposite. I think the basses you have are more than enough to get around. I just wanna tell you to ask yourself before you order: "Do I honestly need this?".

What would the Jazzman accomplish that your Streamers or your Sandberg can't?
 
My Sandberg lacks a 5th string ;-)


Anyway my choice is done already.
 
And ok, but why TJ?

If it aint broke, dont fix it! I like the Jazzman how it is.
 
Me too, but to be honest the Streamer Jazzman is a very surprising bass as it is... One of those basses it is risky to change anything.

Humbuckers are more limited. They have less clarity, less definition, less overall output.
Twin Jazz have what the single coil jazz pickup has, but doubled. It can also mimick a humbucker's sound when you select both coils.
I believe the twin jazz is a better choice because it will perform like the MM humbucker, with the added advantage of single coil.
It gives you a wider range to choose from.
But then, if you like the Jazzman as is, why ♣♣♣♣ with success?
Whichever way you go Ian, you'll getta great bass.
