Hi,
A forum member at the Dutch Basgitaarforum is seriously considering to acquire a 1991 (all wengé) six string thumb. At 3250 euro it doesn't come cheap
Does anyone here have a clue about the value of such a beauty?
I'm surely no expert, but the idea of this iconic bassmodel 'sculpted' out of one the toughest, rarest and most sought after hardwoods ...gives me the impression this must be a kind of holy grail

Oh wow! That would be awesome to have!

I bet it growls like no other!

WOW!

Forget getting a Warwick with wenge neck, this bass is the Holy Grail!

3250 Euros might be asking a lot even for such an amazing instrument...

If you want it, maybe offer 2500 and see how it goes...

(By the way, if one would want an all-wenge thumb from the custom shop today, one would have to pay close to 5000 euros...)

I don't like Wenge.

Sorry for the rant.

Ian, I'm glad I'm not on your bad side... You're like... vicious, bad, aggressive...

We can feel your hate for wenge...

Damn, you scary!

:P

I have an all wenge Benavente 5 and it thumps out the low-end like none of my other basses, but man is it heavy.

That's a beautiful bass for far too much money.Reduce the price by at least 60% & it's a viable proposition.

I really like heavy basses, and this seems like the mothership. There's no way my pathetic american dollar could even imagine buying it, but if I could, I would.

I don't know what to say Greg... if you really like a bass you should pay the price, and this one is a unique bass. The sh Warwicks are really underpriced ... If you really want one like this, you have two options, to make one in CS, or to buy this one. I guess a new one would be much more expensive :-)

I would second that. there's no substitute for a unique bass. it all come down to what it's worth to you.

is the chambered one that was on thelowend.net?

all wenge thumb, 6 string

It's the first one that came through the Low End. Brian had a second one with a maple fingerboard. Mine is all wenge and chambered. It's still very heavy.
