Looks cool, wish I could get into NAMM, its a shame its like 40 minutes from my house and I cant even go.
 
Does the cab affect the sound more than the amp?

Have you tried two different amps through the same cab? I now own a Peavey VB-2 as well as a Warwick X-TREME 10.1 and the Peavey is more ballsy and full and biting and gritty. I'm thinking it's because of the valves. The Tubepath might be the same with it's valve pre amp.

Everything plays it's part in the sound. I used an old Mesa cab at a gig once and it was much deeper than the 411 ND's have but no where near as clear.

It depends on your style, string, pick up, wood, amp, cab and room. Some play smaller parts in tone influence but all are essential.

I'd say every component is pretty important, but as a bass player who doesn't really have a bass amp (in NYC there is always back line), I rest on the idea that if your bass and strings sound good, most amplifiers will do the job pretty well. (I will note that I have found two exceptions...)
