Exactly! It sounds shallow, but I could never consider buying an amp with Comic Sans splashed all over the front panel. I'd otherwise be quite tempted by a Warwick amp, but Comic Sans is a deal-breaker. No joke.

Dont you take it's sound into consideration?
If it sounds great, who cares what's font the logo has?

Of course I'd take its sound into consideration, but that's one important factor, not the ONLY factor. I still have to look at the thing every day.

When choosing a bass I consider the tone, flexibility, how it feels to play, weight and balance, and how it looks. I don't want to play a 1980s Status bass because I don't like the look of them. Why is an amp any different?
 
When it comes to influencing the brain the eye is 10x stronger then the ear. If an amp looks better it sounds better. Funny thing the human brain really...
So no I don't agree there Gregette. ;)

Ditch the font. make the amps look cool. Amps sell on looks as much (if not more) then sound which for bass amps is mostly in the cabinets anyway.

Coz it's normally behind you, in the darkness of the rear of stage. Then it's packed away, sometimes in a rack or sleeve, only to come out for it's next appearance at the back of the dark stage. Sorry if I sound judgemental, but this is nothing a 1 inch square of gaffa tape cant fix if you suffer with amp vanity to that extent.
I completely understand looks are important. If a bass doesnt appeal visually, it usually doesnt even get picked up & demo'd. But an amp? IMHO that's like obssesively checking to see if you locked your car door 16 times before leaving it in the car park.
Of course YMMV. But that's just lil' ol' moi!

What amplifies the sound, that's fed to the cabs?
The amp.;)
The cabs are but one component of what we call, our signal chain. To skimp on a single component can undermine even the very best performing set up.
If what you say is true, then all you really need is the cheapest & nastiest amp, & good cabs.:roll:
What you say about the eye influencing the brian is true, but we're musicians. & for me personally, sound wins every time. Why? coz I like to spend more to get a sound that I find pleasing to my ear. Maybe I'm a little older, & value performance over appearance, or cool over comfort. We all play Warwick. Why? coz we dont mind paying extra for great tone.
That said, you might be pleasantly surprised after NAMM.
But also by the sounds of it, you might not be either.:?:
Mostly in the cabs????:eek:
 
When can we expect the new stuffz to appear?
 
I'm proud to have my amp and cab sporting that big "W". I've been asked many times by other musicians "What kind of amp is that? I've never seen one of these." to which I happily answer Warwick. The two most common responses are either "I didn't know they made amps." and "That thing sounds fantastic!" Usually both statements occur in the same sentence. ;)

Actually, I already think the amps look cool. Way cool. Nice clean black front with classy shiny chrome. A good neat font with small unobtrusive white writing, and a nice big W on the front.

Please don't change the font and go for something nasty like on GK Backline series! :lol:

You don't sound judgemental, just close-minded to the fact that the look of an amp can matter to some people to the same extent as the looks of a bass. FWIW you can't fix the issue with a square of gaffa tape - the W is fine, it's ALL the rest of the screen printed text that's in Comic Sans.

The same applies - hence I've never demo'd a Warwick amp. I couldn't live with one, because the typeface choice makes it ugly.
 
Yeah. The cabs you use have a bigger influence on the sound then your amp. I own a lot of cabs and each one has their own voice. The SWR 15" and 4x10" are mostly my weapons of choice. Wether I use the Fender tube amp or Ibanez Class D amp is pretty much irrelevant tbh. Their job is to amplify my bass period.
Try your amp through different brands and model cabs. You will be amazed.
 
I agree that cabs have a big impact on your sound, but I don't think their impact is greater than your choice of amp, your bass or even the strings you use.

You're right that if you change cabs you'll get very different sounds, but the same is true if you change your amp too.

For example, my WCA 211 Pro cab sounds VERY different played through my Pro FET 5.1 head, my Little Mark Tube head, or my Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0.

ABout looks... I can understand both of the sides, but to be honest I would play an amp even in a cardboard box handwritten if the sound is good. It is a professional choice. I am more with Greg here... Especially now, you cannot buy something similar with the Tubepath amp, even for twice of the Thomann price!!! That's a fine dam' German built tube amp!

It is not the same with the bass... :-)

It depends.

The tone is the one you hear in front. 99% that would be the DI out, of the preamp, or mixed mike + DI

So to me the preamp is by far the most important part (except the bass of course)

Actually, because the Hellborg Preamp is so good, for me the Hellborg Cabinets (probably the best in the world) have ZERO influence in sond, since I use DI only :-)

If you are using a miked all tube old skool bass amp, than... The cabinet will have a great deal of influence, of course, after the tube preamp, and the tube final stage :-)
