98 thumb price

Found a 98 thumb locally, 5 string BO, in expected shape for a 98, and it's marked $1799usd. They offered it for $1275usd w/ out haggle. What is the value of a bass like this? It has MEC's and a Wenge neck/fretboard...
 
It's a little bit expensive, but if it has the wenge neck, go for it !
This would be a pricey custom option nowadays.
 
I did ask how long they have had it and it's been there for like 6 months. I think this may give me some more leverage for price. They are not a Warwick dealer and don't know anything about it. I may go back this weekend and see about throwing it on lawaway. Would offering them $1000 be unheard of? I really like the neck...
 
There will also be close to $100 in taxes so more opinions welcomed...
 
You definately have the haggle upperhand. Play dumb and rave about Fenders or MM's. Don't give away your Warwick knowledge. That is your force, Luke! If they sense that your "hustling" them, you may not get a great deal. As you know make sure that Thumb is in optimum condition. If it is, $1200 is a great deal. $1000 would be a steal.
