'90 streamer wood?

hi all!
would anybody know what kind of wood warwick used for painted (sunburst) streamer bolt on bodies? i've got one from 'bay, and the seller was not able to give me any details except that it is "very old, 15 years or so, has a lot of scratches, and the wood looks like maple"... still waiting to receive the body, and will post a pic or two when i get it.
i would like to preserve the original finish if possible, but if it turns out that "a lot of scratches" is actualy something worse, i'd be thinking about total refinish.

Hi, it's no difference if it's natural or painted, same wood, in this case probably maple
 
The Streamer bolton was introduced in 1993.
The early models had a Cherry body, and a Wengé or Maple neck.
There are also few ones with a Maple body, and a 3 Maple + 2 Wengé pieces bolton necks.

Later they switched to the Maple body + Wengé neck, just like the Streamer LX which in 1997 took its place in Warwick line.

Some of the early Streamers featured a maple body from time to time. I;m not sure if this is the case in yours, but it was common on those days.
 
hi all,
i've stripped the finish today, and maple it is! nice flat sawn figure, bit of flame on the back, but nothing amazing - as it happens with painted bodies.
it took almost ten hours of sandng to get through all the coats of laquer and paint... well done, W!
and now the difficult part: choosing the finish. i quite like the look of LX 5 'Fretless Extreme' in Custom Shop gallery, and have some non conductive graphite paint (gray/black) at hand that looks great when applied to bare wood. few coats of tru oil to seal it and give some protection to the wood, maybe.
