Hello! This is my first post here. I felt compelled to share this since I went deep into my closet and pulled out some old basses after I moved recently. Of all the basses that have come and gone, this is the one that always makes the cut. I don't play bass much at all anymore, but my grandfather bought this for me my first year of college. It's seen quite a bit of action in its day, started fretless, then fretted, then finally back to its original fretless state (long story). I don't ever intend to sell it and I hope I can give it to my kid one day. I was curious if there was anything else anyone could tell me about it since it's been years since it's left the gig bag.

good day!

A question for Warwick insiders: this bass has serial 003.

Is this the 3-rd Stage 2 5 strings, or the 3-rd Stage 2 5 strings fretless?
I mean, do fretted and fretless basses of the same model share their serial numbers, or do they have separate series?

Hi and welcome.

Not sure how much you already know about your bass but...

As you say, you have a Streamer Stage II; Afzelia body and what I assume to be ebony board (fretless at birth would most certainly have had that). It was manufactured in December 1990 and unless you've altered anything it should have a 2 band MEC circuit fed by 2 J style MEC pick-ups. However the jack socket doesn't look original or has been altered BUT that shouldn't come as a shock to any one who has owned an older Warwick bass

As Mr R has asked I'm not sure if it is the 3rd SSII 5 string of that year or the 3rd fretless. I've never gotten my head around that side of the serial numbers but a Mod should be able to assist!

Mr. Rabble,

The serial numbers of fretted and fretless basses of the same model are - as far as I know - not separated by different series. I have two Thumb NT basses from the same year which have serial numbers F280 and F282.

Rgds,
Jeroen

One is fretted and the other is fretless?

Welcome to the forum... ppfuuu nice bass
