Hi. Here's a pic of my "vintage" 88 Thumb 5 (as the title implies). Serial Number is J309 88. I'd like to know a bit more about it? Also where can you get spares for these as I've broken the stop on the vol pot :x

Not sure what you mean by "broken the stop."

If you mean that the knob rotates freely, chances are
the knob has just come loose, and needs reseated and
a proper tightening down.

If in fact the potentiometer itself is damaged, your local
Warwick dealer should be able to handle the order and
replace it themselves. (Relatively cheap procedure.)

Yeah, I've bust the lug where the vol pot comes to a positive stop at full volume. You can go from full vol to zero if you catch it and move it a tickle, could be embarrassing if I ever gigged again :lol:
 
Tig, your bass looks amazing :-)
If you look at the back of the pot, you will see that it is bumped. Use something hard and pointy and a little hammer to press it back down. The pot will stop rotating all around :-)

gorgeos bass you're having there, i have the same with a red finish and gold hardware and i never wanna miss it!
here are some facts for ya:
- bubinga body
- 7piece-wenge/bubinga neck with wenge fretboard
- emg j-pick ups with a 2-way mec electronics
- pearl dot inlays and w-inlay on the headstock
beside the bodywood these are the main facts which are not same as the todays thumbs!

enjoy this baby and if you don't you gotta sell it to me;)

wengee neck, with two piece bridge, JAN1
and usually insane wood grain
 
Does this pre-amp have a gain adjustment? output's a bit low compared to my MM j**z (which to be honest is too harsh). However it was a bit weak compared to my old Streamer too ( Which I deply regret selling! :(( )

I am not sure, look for a trim pot on the electronic plate. If you find one, that's it.
Also check the pickup height. You can have them prettey close to the strings , even 2mm for the bridge pickup.
 
Moving the pups closer to the string has certainly helped. So much so that all my effects levels are going to have to be reset :lol:
