I have been playing through this Hartke for a while now. It sounds good right now, but I am sure it will sound great through a Warwick/Ampeg head and cab.

jaco pastorius' son is a hartke endorsee, and he plays a fodera bass. So I don't think a bassist of that stature will risk of having a sucky tone.

imo sucky is in the suck of the sucker.
What I'm saying is,just coz young Mr.Pastorius plays it,dont make it good.Only YOU can decide that.
eg.Billy Sheehan,I love the guy,but hate his tone.Ditto for John Myung.

as the Warwick basses, same the Fodera Basses sound well through a "whatever boxes" very good.

Hartke XL is only an experiment to let the speakers look shiny and good

About using Hartke cabs? The silver cone hartke cabs have a signature tone for sure. I use Hartke stuff and have never had a issue with the actual speakers or cabinets. I have a 4x10(410XL) and a 2x15 sub module(215XL). They are great and play a big part in my sound. I don't use hartke amps.....but i have heard bad things. Then again, the Sun 1200S i use for my amp is a total POS. Sounds amazing, but is not built very well at all. I'm about to make a switch to a Warwick pre amp/amp, and obviously keep my POD Pro xt for effects duty. We shall see!
