1987 Warwick Dophin

I have recently been given a 1987 Warwick Dolphin Pro1. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the bass is worth? It is in excellent condition and sounds great.
 
Hey Sarah, welcome to the forum.

You have a great bass:-) The old ones are not that expensive, they are pretty much the same as the new ones. So it will cost pretty much the same as a second hand Dolphin from 2000 for example. But the price isn't all... you have a piece of history there, and a hand crafted instrument, with a unique shape.

it worths 1000$ and I'd buy it from you NOW. :roll:

jking, the bass worths bout 2500$ and maybe more because it's vintage.
 
Are you sure is 1987?
I knew that the Dolphin was introduced in 1988...

Anyway I love those old Dolphins...
 
Here is a picture of it. I was told that it was a 1987, but if anyone can tell more from the picture, I would appreciate it. I was also informed that there is indeed some great history attached to it.

It's a Dolphin Pro II
It was made in Japan 1992-1994.
It can't compare with a Dolphi Pro I, but it's a gift, anyway a great deal! :wink:

yup - and after doing some research online it would sell for between $600 - $800
 
Actually it is a Dolphin Pro1. See picture. The original owner said he got it in the 80's.

Does anyone know a site where there are pictures of the different years?
 
The shape of the Pro II body is pretty distinct, that's definitely a 2. Great bass though. I'd like to have one.

That's quite impossible I'm afraid.This bass is 100% a Dolphin Pro 2 from between 92 & 94.The Pro 1 has a different body shape.Anyone can replace a truss rod cover.it's only 3 screws. :wink:
 
the inlays (offset dots) are typical of the Pro II as well :wink:

and the most important part: if it's a bolt-on it's a pro-II for sure :D
