You Don't See This Every Day........

Pity it looks like the neck is broken, On one of the pics you can see a bare wood crack and then stress cracks on the front, also comes with broken hard case.

I don't think it is. What you see on neck are laminations. I can see a crack in ebony, but that's not that uncommon, I don't think it is serious, just cosmetic. Anyway, he is @shaftbass here on the forum, awesome guy!
 
I wish I could afford this bass. I play a sixer, but sometimes pull out an 8-string (octave courses). This thing would be like having both in one.

To be honest I thought Andy was exaggerating about the creative avenues an instrument can open, but then he just proceeds to deliver. Also, incredible bass faces right on the 9 minute mark, hahaha.

I didn't quite understand what he meant about playing the strings individually and sounding like a guitar, as I couldn't see his right hand at that point (around 4:30).

With some training you can play only the main string or only the octave string.
