Xbass solo - begining help

Ok only example i thought of of this technique was in florins xbass solo at the very begining of his solo in teh song xbass (after he posted the clip of it a while back)....oh yeh carythelableguy also does the same thing on self control just after the sax player gets intoduced.

i've been trying to work out how to play what sounds like a continuous stream of really fast slapped triplets. i've come up with two theorys...

First: It sounds a bit like when i slap a triplet by popping twice using say my first finger on the d string then my middle on the g, before slapping on the e/a string to get a rapid triplet.Thing is this isn't that fluid a motion(for me at least) so it lead me to thing that it was maybe done some other way.

Second idea was I though left handed slapping followed by a conventional slap then pop, but still it didn't sound right. Maybe my timings off or i'm doing the whole left had slap thing wrong(not that great at it, its something i'm practicing).

i've been trying for a few weeks now to get this but i've hit a dead end nothign i try seems to sound like it. Some insight, a guide, or even a step by step would be really great.

Hey Callum,

The very beginning of the solo I use this technique:
first pop G string
Then slap with left hand,
Then thumb.

Not a big deal, need just a little practice.
Then later in the solo I do some rapid SPSPSPSP. Those are not very difficult to make either. My right hand is very ( I mean VERY) relaxed when I am slaping.
Another trick is that when I slap let's say the E string, my index finger actually hits the wood between the G and D string. In the same moment I hit the E string, and the body of the bass. So my index is just there ready to pop, so it is much easier to do fast SPSP that way.

Later in the solo, I am doing a trick I learned watching Abe Laboriel. With double thumping, TH (hammer on)U (where U is thumb up, with the fingernail. so... So it is THU THU, Like ABB GAA, etc...

Cheers flo as always a great help just what i needed to know.

You can also get the same sound with less or more notes on your control of the technique by just using your thumb to "rake" how ever many strings you want (ex. G-D-A) then right after wards you pop a string (ex. G). And to make it more fancy after you "rake" each string you can add a pop to each one of them.

It's a form of double thumping I do belive, I found it pretty easy figure out. Once you can do it once you can just repeat the rake-pop several times and you will get sound simillar to what Flo and Victor Wooten. Its also really so to add inbetween lines just for a small fill.
