Hey guyz,

I'll start with saying that in most (99%) cases I like da original (much) more than da cover version, but every now and then I come across a cover version that (imho) exceedz da original....

Throwdown's cover of "Baby Got Back" or possibly "Renegades of Funk" or "Kick out the Jams" by Rage Against the Machine.
 
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath by Bruce Dickinson with Godspeed. Pink's Bohemian Rhapsody and Hammerfall's My Sharona are right up there, too.

311 - D`yer Maker (Led Zeppelin) or Dark Fortress - Syccamore Trees. Both somehow strange, but great. I also recommend Tori Amos - Strange little girls. Even more strange, but has some really enthralling moments like her cover of Raining Blood, which totally haunting.

Transatlantic's version of Genesis' "Return of the giant Hogweed" is better than the original, IMO.
 
LC have always had good taste in covers; their take on Al Green's "Love and Happiness" is awesome but probably not as good as the original (but only just:d). I've seen them do Per Ubu's "Final Solution", AC:evil:DC "Back in Black", Tracey Chapman "Fast Car", James Brown "Talking Loud..." to name but a few.

Anyway I personally like these (and as per the OP I think these are better than the originals):

Bad Brains - Sailin On (recorded live at CBGB's in the early 90's, points if you can spot Scott Ian from Anthrax in the audience):

Forgot about that one... I have to admit to love how good Chuck did his vocals for the cover and how much more heavier it was than the Priest original. Chuck knew how to sing, scream, and shred. RIP
