Would you buy a Warwick with a nonwarwick truss rod?

About satin finish that turns into glossy one...


Yes, my GPS Corvette (2-3 months old) got high gloss parts where finish is in contact with hands (Neck, upper Wing where right hand rests etc).

Every satin finish when rubbed is going to look like polished (glossy) one



Someone like this effect, but i like it to be either fully mat or fully gloss.
So, sanding is not something im ready to do (too complicated and im too lazy for that), but polishing to high gloss is not that difficult and maybe this is what im going to do this Year. Sanding is allways option after polishing, so no harm polishing.....

Or just forget about it and play as it is (there is some Charm to see used , but not damaged instrument) :)

If there is satin finish - no waxing - wood is protected with mat coat (which turns into glossy one, as in my case on places where in contact with hands while playing)

it seems they used hp finish and then sanded it to be sort of satin - the older satin finish becomes glossy over time but like in years

I dont think so (but of course, i could be wrong)..... Finish is very uniform, not a trace of sanding
I know a little about painting and I think this is transparent satin (matt) paint from the start. Just very, very, VERY soft one apparently.




EDIT:
so soft, that my right hand thumb (fingernail maybe?) cut through it and polished surrounding area :)

I pick this sexy beast up tomorrow! $1600 USD is a good deal for the condition it's in. It's going straight to my luthier t have some work done to it, mainly to have it set up so that the bridge isn't so high out of the body. Easy thing to do, and doesn't truly matter, but I hate when you can see a bridge gap

IIRC the actual gloss finishes from that period were done off-site, and might be the super thick ones. I think the euro spectors of the period were similar, they had a thick super clear HP finish which tended to crack. a satin finish would be much thinner. this looks like a shined satin to me, I have red satin LX which is definitely getting shiny under my thumb and forearm.

It is still at my local luthier/tech getting a proper set up done. The guy before me had the action high because he really dug in hard and didn't want any buzz. I prefer a low action. When I get it back I will post my own pictures of it :-)
 
Well, bad news. The replacement truss rod is busted in this bass. I'm about to lose my shit.
 
faaaaarrk! can you return it? unless it was specifically sold as is, or in poor condition you'd have a pretty good case agaist any shop, even second hand shops, or online seller.

I bought it off Craigslist from s guy about an hour from me. I texted him to ask when the truss rod was replaced and who did the work. Want to see if he will contact the guy on behalf to complain it's broken. If not, I was quoted 250-350 to replace it (remove fingerboard, etc). I want planning to dump any money into this, but at the price I bought it I guess with the work to it it will be 2000 USD all in which isn't terrible for how hard they are to find. Just annoying.

I've brought a new bass which is on its way to me, I won't be surprised to open a case full of rocks.... I'm feeling quite nervous about it. (No one on this forum)

Haven't heard anything yet, but I need to give it time.
 
Well the guy got back to me. He said it was very concerning that the fuss did was t working as it was just done 4 months ago. The guy I bought it from is going to contact the luthier today and find out what can be done. I fully suspect and expect the luthier to just say "I have no way to tell if you screwed with it and broke it or not", but it would also be nice to recognize that a truss rod shouldn't be broken after 4 months.
