Wierd little wire

Today I was taking out my pups and I noticed a wierd little, uncoated, wire going from the EQ-cavity to both pup routings and there just being screwed into the wood..

What is up with that?

I'm guessing some kind of sheilding or grounding. Has the cavity and pickup cavities been painted with sheilding paint?

If the pickup cavities are painted black, then it is shielding paint and the wire is grounding the cavities to the bridge to keep buzz to a minimum. Another quality touch on a quality bass!

That is a ground wire... All basses (that I know of) have them that attach from one of the pots to the bridge.

yep, the cavities have been shielded. As far as i know, this must be an after market mod, if its been done in your pickup cavity as well. That bit of wire is connecting the two sections, its sometimes easier to use wire than to paint down the little connecting tubes.
