WHY a Warwick?

Hi everybody guys..that's what i want to know, WHY should i buy a warwick for my next main bass? I know i like the beefy and aggressive look, and i heard they can produce amazing sounds :wink:

i'm going to try a couple models this week..meanwhile you tell me why you bought one :D

the best sound I've ever haved...
Don't matter if you plug it into a cheap/shity amp or a real good amp (X-treme + 2x10" + 4x10") it always sound great..

All Warwicks I've tried and owned have always been very flexible in sound. You can get what ever sound you like..
 
1) the ergonomics. i'm short, skinny and got small hands, but there's no necks in the world that suits me better than the relatively beefy ones that Warwick makes, and the body style of the streamer, corvette and the thumb are just perfect.

2) The sound(s). They just sound... amazing. period! :)

3) the looks. oh my oh my oh my... some of the nicest body designs out there. and the different woods and finishes are just -for lack of better words- awesome.
 
thanks guys, that's what i wanted to hear..i always loved the body shapes and the woods but i never had the chance to play one :D
I actually own a gibson thunderbird and i'm getting quite tired of the constant dropping down of the neck (man that headstock is HUGE :D ), so i'm going to use it as a backup, I tried a rick 4003, that is a beautiful instrument for sure, but with very limited versatility :cry:

come on i wanna read more :D :D
 
Why Warwick?

In a word - quality.

When you are holding a Warwick bass, you know you are holding a qualit instrument. you can have confidence that the instrument is soundly built and durable, and if it isn't, Warwick customer service is second to none.

If the instrument is set up to your taste, and with decent strings, it should sound great. Most people like some models a lot more than others. SOme are incredibly playable. I wasn 't much of a Thumb fan until I played a 5 string fretless and I just couldn't put it down - it soudned and felt perfect. THe Streamer Jazzman also blew me away.

Warwicks are a bit like Marmite - you either seem to love them or hate them, but everyone agrees they are quality instruments.
 
Yes this is right...The Warwicks are just great !!! The sound is incredible...I have a FNA-Jazzmann...Killersound!

And no question about quality...its just top.


In also tried a Thumb 5-String,but fretted...wow...just wow :)
 
Don't forget about the active electronics you get in high end warwicks(wich are way better than the passive electronics that you get in thunderbird or rickenbacker) rickenbackers and thunderbirds are nice basses(when you travel back in time to de 60's and 70's , they are still better than the fenders i think)now days they still look cool but they are not practical, they're too big and they don't feel nice when you stap then on, no comffort here, and they are not so polyfacetic in their sound as the warwick plus yeah they are som classy highly priced basses but everybody has or had them,unlike warwicks, everytime i play a gig with mine everybody ask me stuff about it,try a warwick before you buy anithing else, let's put it like this, if you compare a warwick thumb with a Rickenbacker 4001 is like comparing a 59´ Cadillac with a Porsche Carrera GT, sure they´re both nice cars, it just depends of what you wanna do with them is like classy ride Vs. The hell of a RIDE!!!! ...(is you ask me i´ll take the Porsche.... gladly)...
 
Because of the sound! the look and a warwick was the first bass I fall really in love with! it was the very old streamer stage I of my bass teacher!
 
I played a Music Man Stingray Yesterday, and just to say it had NOTHING on my Corvette Std. and I have the PASSIVE Corvette std. The Stingray waas thin, and my Warwick is Powerful, in all senses of the word.

Warwicks are just so awesone. They play exquisitely, they sound even better, and they're built like tanks! Play a Warwick, you'll agree, they're the best that the Bass world has to offer.
 
i ordered a corvette $$-4 in nirvana black this afternoon, they let me play with a standard corvette and i absolutely LOVED it, i guess the $$ will have a little more power :)

can't wait for it to arrive (should be here next week), bought for 930€ minus some refund for the warlock platinum i'm giving back :D

So I guess the bottom line is Why a Warwick? Why NOT?

Plus Warwick's customer service is awesome. Whenever I had a question about my Warwick, I always got an e-mail from Dale or Rob of Dana B. Goods within a day.

I think the horror stories people tell of lousy Warwicks with high action, terrible playability, filthy feeling necks, and all that are from people who play them at megastores like Sam As(s)h or Guitar (Gutter) Center where they don't really take good care of the instruments, don't keep them regularly set up, and have tons of wet-behind-the-ears kiddies bashing on them every day thinking they're Ryknow Martinie or Flea.

You check out a Warwick, from ANY era past or present, at a smaller mom & pop or boutique music store where they take good care of their instruments and I guarantee you it will be one of the best basses you've ever played. I've had opportunities to try various pro-level and boutique basses: Carvin, Spector, Modulus, even Fodera... and I will always come back to my Artemis Moon (that's the name I've given my Warwick Corvette.) She's truly a gem.
 
Agree with everything elese but one thing is not covered I think - the custom options, You can get an instrument exactly as you want and need it
 
I think the comment about warwicks being marmite basses is a perfect description, people who love them, love them with a passion and others that hate them, hate them equally as strong. I always wanted a streamer, all thanks to stuart zender, but after owning both a corvette and a streamer i found that i couldnt gel with the streamer in the same way i do the corvette, they're funny like that, each warwick bass really does have its own personality, you just have to get to meet them all and see which lady you can live with.

I have just one more question to ask..what do i get with my bass? the bag, manual and what else? I just want to be sure I'll get everything when it arrives :wink:
 
You'll also get all the tools for adjustments of bridge, pickups, neck etc plus straplocks and wax if you have a natural body (not yours, the bass:-))
 
Firstly, I loved the look. My favourite design is the Corvette (the one I own).

It just looks so sleak and sexy.

I love the subtle sounds it makes, that classic Warwick growl. For me, it adds another dimension to my tone.
 
To, shut_up_you_*** . I checked out the page. You need to change the picture of yourself to one where you use a Warwick! 8)
 
Well, I wanted "something else". A high end to have until I almost can`t play anymore. A bass that`s versatile, but still have the looks... Warwick wasn`t one of those, until I found the Vampyre, but I`ve also gotten my eyes up for other models.

Good craftmanship, great sound, and something that many brands lack:
Good customer support.
