Ok, heres one some of you might find interesting. I just got done reading a post by one of my favorite posters and the thought occured to me... I'd really like to meet this person in real life (in person) sometime.

So that's the question... Who on this forum would you really like to meet in person and why?

Saying everyone is the easy way out. I'm sure most of us, I know I would, like to meet all of you if given the opportunity, but for the sake of this exercise, who is it that really stands out to you as someone you'd really like to meet. Also, if you have already had the opportunity to meet someone from the forum and would like to share the experience, please do.
 
I wanna meet Kyle.Someone told me he's actually Lady Gaga dressed as a teenager.I'd just like to find out for myself.
I met Rusty once.Top bloke.
I almost met Lex,but the gods conspired to keep us apart.Shame,coz he sounded pretty cool over the phone.I expected him to sound like a real poof,but he sounded quite butch.
I'l love to meet Flo.We've spoken alot via messenger & I feel like I can talk to him about anything.I mean "anything".btw,he wasnt the one that hipped me to the kyle/Lady Gaga thing either.He thought that he might be the eldest,forgotten & least talented Jonas brother.The one they made play bass,then hired a pro coz he spent too much time online & not enough time being interviewed by Dolly magazine.

Ok, since I started this mess, I will go first...ummm second .. lol (greg beat me to the post) and all though I trully would, I won't take the easy way out and say everyone.


Golem - I really dig his posts and just from the things he says and the way he says them, I think Golem is someone I would really get along with and would very much enjoy meeting.

Eberbachl - He was one of the first people to actually start talking to me (or responding to my posts) and he has always struck me as being pretty cool. My father was a chef and I really enjoy cooking myself so I think that is another area where we'd be on solid ground. Of coarse I would try to take the opportunity to meet a few other of our aussie brothers such as Greg and Rusty while there a well.

Florin - Florin and I have had sort of an up and down relationship since Ive been on the board. And to me, that is a sign of a true friendship when you can go through such a horrible disagreement as Flo and I did and walk away from it still calling each other friend, now there's a man I would like to meet. I'd give him a big ole hug and make sure he knew how honored I am to have him as my friend. But no kissing! I know how weird you Europeans are about that kissing stuff. I'm an American and call me a homophobe if you want, but no kissing! Hell a hug is a big step for me.


Of coarse there are many others I would really like to meet, but I will keep this list short for the sake of this exercise. But what I think would actually be neat is to like take a Euro vacation where I just go from place to place meeting everyone. Then do that in the States and Austraila as well. hehe Maybe if I ever win the lottery ... oh wait, you have to actually play it to win ...

I've had the chance to meet and party with Flo, Lex and Hans Dirty at the Warwick 25th anniversary party, I've also met bassplayer22 when he swung by my place on a Sunday afternoon this spring with his family...

As for whom among the other forum denizens I'd like to meet, I'd have to play the same card as greg and say that any of them would be suitable to me for a meet and drink, even those with whom I don't necessairly always agree...
 
I think I can say "everyone" without telling me this is an easy way out... Really this forum is like my second family, and I feel like I am having a friendship... or "as close to friendship as possible" relation with all of you...
A forumer's meeting - this is one trip/ party I would never miss, because I would really want to meet as many of you as possible.
Every person is unique and special, and I am afraid we will only mention the ones we got to know better.
Being the forum host I managed to know so many nice people, so my list will be real long...
I am grateful for having the chance to already meet some of you, like Patrik, Jan Van Hove, Bojan (Boebl), Lex, Hans Dirty, Freddy, Mr Demeter, Alin, Zamolxed, Hansford Rowe...
Yeah, sure... Greg, my love, we need to meet some day. Randy, thanks for your kind words, you know I have feelings too, just my English sucks. You are a good friend, and I would like to give you a big hug too. Rusty, I think we would have a lot to chat about... you know... what to chose and when...
Please, don't make me do this, my dream would be to meet all of you somewhere. I wish I could meet our friend that is no longer with us, but I am grateful I knew him here on the forum. It is enough.
And even if I will not meet all of you, reading your posts here made my life richer.
To be honest, I am afraid to meet Golem in person, you noticed all the secrecy around him... It would not surprize me to find that he is a 15y old genius, you know... Dexter style, who is making fun of us. Or that Kyle stroke again, this time real good...

I would really like to meet T6 in person... you know to talk for 5 minutes, because it seems the online comunication was not too good for us. I look behind, and think: What the hell was that?!... And I am sure he thinks the same way. From what I know all of you, it would be impossible for any of us to have a fight in the real world, but here, on the internet ♣♣♣♣ happens...

I'd like to meet everyone on the forum, but mostly Jester, Morgoth, da-vonk, Samuel (cool guys), Flo (the grand sensei with knowledge and will to help, also a cool guy), Golem (but I am kinda afraid too), ectoflanger (the first friend I made on the forum, a very cool dude), saturnine (because she is a lady, and a very cool one).. Sorry if I forgot someone, but I <3 all of you (did this sound gay?)
 
I would definitely go out of my way to get to a forum meet and meeting any and all of you guys, and gals would be cool.

I've met Kev Cooke and Seth Horan when Seth played in milton keynes and Kev supported, and again the next day in camden. Seth was a great to meet, had many laughs with everyone at the gig, kev was a great guy really friendly and got me on the guest list for the camden show!

Guy's i'd like to meet:

Florin - i think he'd be a great guy to just sit down and chill with over a beer or two.
Lex - if i ever make it to NYC i'll definitely be hitting up one of his shows
Michael - really dig his outlook on bass i think we have a lot in common in this regard.
Stroud - always seemed a cool guy
Jan - talking crazy bass ideas all day long would be cool
Randy - probably one of the most entertaining posters here
Golem - just to see his house and collection of basses - i've got an image of some old mansion just full basses.

These are just the guys that stuck out for me, but as i mentioned at the start of my post i'd happily sit down over a drink with anybody from the forum and talk basses til the sun goes down!

well, since I'm the only Pole here that I'm aware of, don't I deserve a Pole Position?
 
Sorry, off topic, but here is one for Martin. Never realized you were Polish til now... Anyway... I'm sure you don't really hear them much in Poland and actually you probably turn them around to be American Jokes or whatever, But here in the states polish jokes are popular with the pollock always being protrayed as being stupid. Example ... How many pollocks does it take to change a light bulb? ... 11. 1 to hold the light bulb, 10 to spin the ladder.
Anyway I learned this one years ago and always love pulling it whenever possible, and I think it would be perfect for martin if he ever finds himself in a situation where people are telling pollock jokes.

First you have to let them tell a few to really set the stage and allow them to bury themselves, then ask the pollock joke tellers ... "Can you speak Polish?" Of coarse the answer we be no, then slam them with the punch line ... "So How does it feel to be dumber than a pollock?" Game over, you won!

Would work for any nationality, I dont know how these thing might be switched up in other countrys, but you have to be careful with this outside the US. Here in the US you can be pretty sure that the person can't speak any other language. But trying pulling this else where like in europe and you just may get stuck .... Can you speak polish? Actually, yes I can. ... ummmm shoot, nevermind. See that just doesn't have the same impact.

Sorry for going off track, but you know me... I just couldn't help myself. And one last thing... I have never understood how it came to be the Polish to be the butt of these jokes. Poland actually has a long history of placing education in a strong role in their society and being world leaders when it comes to advances in education. For centuries, the rich used to send their children to poland to be educated, so I have to admit, Pollock jokes have always baffled me.

Ok, one last one before I call it quits and get back to the topic at hand....

There was this pollock the was going to a job interview hoping to become a private detective. He was one of three applicants being interviewed for the job. There was a Jew, a Catholic, and our Pollock friend (see I'm gonna get myself in hot water with everyone with this one) Anyway the first to be interviewed was the jew. He walked in and sat down and the interviewer explained that he was a fairly religous man and he always started his interviews with a question that helps him sum up the character of the man he was interviewing. So he asked ... "Who killed Jesus?" The jewish applicant wasted no time and answered .... "The Romans killed Jesus." When it came to the Catholic applicants, the Catholic responded... "The Jews killed Jesus." and finally it was the Pollocks turn.... "Who killed Jesus?" The Pollock squirmed in his seat for a minute, his face squed up in thought and finally resonded .... "I can tell this really means alot to you and I would really hate to just blindly guess at something so important, so give me a couple days to work on it and I will get back to you." A little puzzled the interviewer said ok... Later that evening at dinner, the Pollock's wife asked him how the job interview went and if he got the job. The pollock responded ... "Sure did... In fact, it went so well, they already got me working on a murder case."


I know ... bad Randy .... I'll go sit in my corner.
 
I've already met one of the nicest bass players you could ever meet: Mr Lex Sadler. I hung out with him in NYC last year, and we'll do it again in october. The guy's SO cool.


I'd love to meet Florin as well, since he seems to be nicer than the kindness itself. Greg too, cause his sarcasm makes me laugh. JanVanHove, because we could talk whisky and basses... in french !
 
Well, I'd really like to meet (in no particular order):

Lex: cause I got no groove, and I need some serious advice. I'm a solid metal player, but groove, no, I suck and we all know Lex got groove
Kyle: Cause he's learning fast, ♣♣♣♣ING FAST. I'd like to buy him a beer for his hard work.
JVH: I'd like to enjoy some great belgian beers (Rochefort, westvleteren, orval) with him and talk about bass designs
IncX: to talk about metal, vampyre bass and to visit the Philippines
Golem: the guy's thinking way differently than most people, and that intrigues me.
Greg and Florin: sit down and talk. Both are great and caring guys.
 
That's hilarious, Randy. Yeah, I was aware of these jokes being popular in the US.

As for europeans knowing other languages... I have to say Poland is really weak in this area. Very few people know some other language, and they're mostly students. You shouldn't expect a policeman or a lady selling tickets at the train station to speak english/french/german/spanish/whatever.
I lived in the UK for about 3 years, and met 2 british people who could speak another language. One of them was my manager at the petrol station. She was cool - was about 24yo, loved to get wasted and then laid, and could speak really good french. Another one was the lady in Inland Revenue & National Insurance office. She actually learned polish, by herself. It took her about a year - that's impressive, it's a really difficult language, with over-complicated grammar. When I travelled in France, I noticed that most of French people know english and/or some more lanuages, but they're not keen to speak it. They prefer the tourists to speak french :) and I tried to, I love french; but my teacher of french in hi-school was lousy. I also lived in Netherlands for 3 months earlier this year. I've had a cool job - I was a gardener in the female military academy. Trimming bushes and stuff. Anyway, most of dutch people speak one other language. Mostly german, then english, then french. Staff in coffee shops speak both german and english, and a bit of polish ;)

Do you know how many cowboys does it take to change a light bulb? Two - one to actually change it, and another one to sing a sad, sad country song about the old one...

Seven: One to ask if the bulb would be better in wenge, one to comment that it would be better with piezo, one to complain about the new logo on it, one to explain how to give it a growlier tone, one to bitch about f##der lightbulbs, one to dream about how much better the bulb would be with more strings, and one to bring out the mids...
