i have a vampyre rock bass and i love it so much im think of upgradeing to ither a darklord or a sn so tell me what you think of them
 
I have a Vampyre NT (custom shop) and I think it's perfect...

It can give me a tone to work for anything. Clean or growly, stupid definition or massive low end... I've used it solo (the sounds piano like characteristics with fresh strings makes it perfect for a solo tone), in a rock/pop band (like, counting crows, goo goo dolls kind of sound), and in a jazz trio. It's never let me down. Hehe.

All that aside it's quite the beauty too.
 
Kev,seriously,you could make a $20 pawn shop nightmare left out in a blizzard sound decent.

I've got 2004 Ltd Vampyre 5, its the business, but I have to express my excitement at the estimated finish date for my CS is 31st January...

I may be drunk (probably) but does the RB Vamp look stumpier than the Wic version? Body shorter and wider? Obviously it's missing the ultra cool contour at the back (for the one piece bridge) and the contoured horns. But does the overall shape look different to anyone else? Maybe it's the lack of contouring fooling my eyes.

Well, it is a "down-tuned" version of the W-model, I`ve tested it once. As you mention, it does not have the extensive neck-contour, and the neck feels "smaller" (I dont know the dimentions). The body does not have the carvings/contours on the sides either. The horns also seemed a tad shorter, and the body is not contoured either, it is practically a complete flat surface on both sides.

So it looks different, but no question it is a Vampyre by recognition, and it does absolutley not sound cheap in any way. The only thing that DOES make it look at bit cheaper, is the Rockbass-logo, which could need a makeover.

That's exactly what I was looking for. I've said in prior posts I think RB's are the best value for money you can get, bar none, not even Warwick. But I never liked the look of the Vampyre when I was checking out RB's. Saw the WW Vamp and liked it a lot. The extensive contouring sure adds a lot, but that change (I agree 100%) really is MY problem with the RB Vamp.
 
Now that the SN-models are discontinued, you might score a good deal if you are looking for one. I don`t really know if stores tend to lower the prices on products going out of production.
