A little back story. As some of you know, my Corvette has had its issues lately, and I am investing my efforts in to another bass. My Dad has been kind enough to offer to buy me something, since he has the money and knows I am in need since I play at our church weekly, and other small gigs. He told me price wasnt a problem so I went to Guitar Center and had a Streamer LX 5 NB w/ Black Hardware written out and gave my dad the manager's info. He got back to me and said $3500~ was too tight for him at the moment and he took me back there to see what they had in store, but their in store stock is limited to Rockbass only, and not something I feel would hold up.

We tried a few stores and there is no where near us in Southern California that carries anything high end from Warwick, and my dad is the kind of guy that cant use a computer, and wants to just go somewhere and get something and be done with it. I offered to make a list of different models of Warwick that I would like with prices and let him d what he can when he can, he said that sounded great. So I am off to find prices and whatnot of a few models.

My main question, is if I can find a store around here that carries anything, that would be optimal. I found bass exchange, and they carry used Warwick, but according to their website, they only have 1 in stock, a lefty SSII. Any other places to looks around at? Las Vegas might be a good area also, since he goes out there weekly for work.

Secondary thought, if I must order through a dealer I would like the best price possible. I have heard people on this forum that have dealers that offer really great prices, any references?

Last thought/option. I told my dad also about buying New old stock off ebay, since it drops the price quite a bit. This seller has quite a few different basses for pretty cheap, with warranty etc. Any thoughts on this as well?

Just for reference the models I am interested in are:
SSI Natural or NB 5 string
LX 5 NB 5 string
Thumb 4 or 5 string

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried Bass Central, in Orlando? I know they are far away from California, but those guys carry a lot of Warwicks and have a reputation as good and big as an ol´elephant.

I browsed their site before, actually thought their prices were used basses, didnt realize most of them are new. I sent them an email for a couple quotes.

you could also watch craigslist, I always get good deals on craigslist, the only thing is you have to be patient and just wait for a good deal.

Try Rocket Music for best prices.
The owner, Greg Bump, is also a member here & has sold many basses & amps to several members.
Rocket Music Online Guitar Shop

If I lived in the USA, this is the store I'd do business with.
*iirs Bass Central is no longer a Warwick dealer?

Got a reply from Bass Central, he gave me some killer quotes for some basses they have in stock, and better quotes than I had from Guitar Center for an LX. Even if I dont get the bass from them now, I will definitely deal with them in the future. I can telll that they treat their customers well, and he has taken an interest in my situation and seems genuinely interested in helping me out, rather than just making the sale.

check out guitar centers used stuff on line they have a big slection.and there policy is pretty good they told me if i didn't like the bass i could return it to my local store for a refund.

Told you, man, I may live in Spain, but I know Bass Central from many years now, and last year I went there and met Grasshopper and the rest of the guys. I didn´t bought any bass, but he, Grasshopper, gave me almost any bass I wanted to try, even 2 or 3 basses (Warwicks) they had NEW, in their boxes, in the backstore, I was there for like 2 hours, and they never gave me a bad look or anything. If I live in USA, I know where I would buy my gear.

:)

So BC is still a Warwick dealer??
I hope so. They're probably the best dealer in the US.
A forum member's car broke down a few miles from BC. They sent Grasshopper out in the BC truck to rescue him & even paid for the part his car needed to get him back on the road. Pretty amazing stuff. You might find the thread by searching, "Bass Central to the rescue".

After I checked all around and around, got a lot of quotes from a lot of nice people. Ended up ordering the original LX through Guitar Center after they were willing to price match a site selling it for $2300. Beat the best quote I got by $700. Beat their own price by $1000. The guy I was dealing with wasn't there when we went in to pay, but his manager helped me out, and didn't give me any problem matching prices and hooking it up.

The only bittersweet part is that we went on Friday and put down 50% but since our US distributor was already closed for the weekend, nothing is actually happening until tomorrow. I will be on the phone first thing making sure they order it asap.

The bas is officially ordered. They had 1 Nirvana Black LX left, and its mine. Once they put on the black Hardware, it will be on its way. Cannot wait, sleep, or wait.

Stinky, I'm guessing here, you went to the Murrietta GC? They have a Streamer and a Katana last time I was there. I wanted the Katana!!

Anyways...talk to West LA Music, they're a top shop...see if they have any German wicks around. It's a drive but from what I hear it's worth it. Me and my bro are gonna make the drive up there sometime.

LOL NVM...I see you got something. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

What are you gonna do with the Corvette??

Man, I checked quite a few Guitar Centers in my area, but the other direction frome me, Rancho and Redlands. They both used to carry Corvettes and Thumbs all the time, but unfortunately now its all Rockbasses.

The Corvette is gonna get a new nut, and the fret dress when I get some extra cash. I got enough cash right now to repair the Corvette, or get a nice case for my Streamer....

For the new nut, West LA can get it for like $20....just see if they'll get it to you via USPS...UPS failed me and delivered an empty torn open envelope that was supposed to have a JANIII in it...I broke my JANII ....but it's all good, the strings are holding it down.

Redlands? You mean San Berdo store...they have one of those silly Buzzards...blech...I love that store though!! I got my Jackson Dinky DKMG there, they're cool. I don't care for the Rancho store...I did get my Wick there but they're not as friendly as San Berdo. I was there today, they guy is like grab something plug it in! I'm not great but I fooled with a 2009 RB $$ vette....I liked it, but damn it's heavy LOL!! I liked the Ampeg I plugged into too...
Murrietta was cool tho, they were playing Nightwish music lol...

Where you at? Eastvale here....(15/Limonite)
