Where have all the six strings gone?

I have just cleaned house with my Warwick collection and started replacing them with new ones. One of the basses I let go was my 6 string fret-less thumb BO. I replaced it with a fretted NT 5 string. I started looking at some of the models I like, and have found that many are not offered as 6 string models. Example-- some streamers, dolphin  , infinity, buzzard, vampire. There might be more. I have owned most of the models that are available in 6 sting versions. Is there any hope for the future in changing this?

A six-string Infinity would be great! What I'd really like to see though, is a six-string fretless Alien! Even just a fretless version of the four-string would be nice

A fretless Alien is available through the custom shop.

Really? It says on the Warwick site that it's "available only as 4-string fretted version". If the custom shop made one, wouldn't it be more expensive seing as it's generally made in Korea?
What other things can the custom shop do to it?

Hello,

You are right. This one slipped my mind and judgement. The Alien is not available in fretless at this point. But still I will inquire about it and let you know what possibilities you have when it comes to the Alien.

Alright, no worries! While you're at it inquire about a five- or six-string version too :D

Hello all,

Sorry for the late reply.

The Alien is only available in 4 strings and at this point not available in fretless version. Here's a list of the basses that we offer in 6 strings at this point:
  • Corvette Standard Bubinga (BO)
    Corvette Proline (BO)
    Streamer CT (BO)
    Streamer LX Broad Neck (BO)
    Streamer Stage I (NT)
    Thumb Bolt On (BO)
Thumb Bolt On Broad Neck (BO)
    Thumb Neck Through (NT)
All other models ARE NOT AVAILABLE as 6 string version - not even in the custom shop. Additionally e.g. a Corvette Standard Ash would not be possible as Broad Neck version.

out of interest why have warwick limited their 6 string range to just two body shapes?? it seems silly that they wouldn't capitalise on the stiuation. i wonder how many people would by the stage II six string if it ever appeared. I love the streamer body shape, the six strings but not the broadneck. so i can't have the stage I, plus i dislike the thumb shape and comfort. this leave me without my dream bass.

I'm sure there are a few people on this forum willing to buy models via the custom shop only. there is probably little demand for the NT 6 string models, but it would be nice to have the chance to order a "custom".

if warwick released a dolphin, infinity and Stage II NT 6 string models opinions through the custom shop, I certain people would buy straight away. I've always wanted a six string fretless, but just can't the right warwick. why it ever be considered. i wouldn't mind paying up to £2500-£3000 for something that is entirely unique.

Thanks odominguez...... but I have owned most of those models and basically was trying to say exactly what badboyjohnzy said. I woul love to be able to order a dolphin or a streamer stage II in six string models! :o

Hello Oliver,

Could you perhaps remind the product manager at warwick that - up to now - several forum members have suggested to add a Dolphin Pro I six-string bass to the family? This instrument would really be a valuable addition for many six-string players.

Thanks & rgds,
Jeroen

Will do Jeroen. Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I'll try to at least make it possible at the Custom Shop.

I have to add something to this topic now. Now you can order some models as 6 strings versions through the Custom Shop, such as the Stage II. I'm still working on getting you the Dolphin Pro I though.

I actually inquired about a 6-string Dolphin Pro I a few months ago and they said it was no problem! What about the Katana NT? Is it available as a 6-string?

Cheers on the 6 string Dolphin idea. If there was a way to get a Fortress 6 string I'd be happy as a pig in sh**.

Personally, a Vampyre BO (Based on the Dark Lord...) in 6-strings, would make my day... :)

Oliver, for the amount of work you do for warwick and for us (listening to our complaints, taking our suggestions to heart, etc) we really appreciate all you do! It truly is amazing and rare for this kind of service to exist nowadays.

Thank you always, Oliver.

What about Broadneck options through the CS.. I would love to see another one of these..
