Want you to join theyre band?

Isn't that kind of weird? Every since I joined the band I'm now playing for (September of last year) I usually get atleast 2 or 3 messages a day now from other bands wanting me to join theyres... And before I wouldn't get anything. It's kind of weird...

Wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

It has even gone as far as people bashing my band... And in the end trying to talk me into joining theyres. It's even crazier when after a show I have a couple of guys come up to me bashing my band while theyre not looking, telling me about theyre band... And then when the other guys comes over they suckup.

This has happened on multiple occasions... And on average every other show now! Could it just be the rude people in the Portland area?
 
Doing that is very rude. I'd stay away from bands like that, because in the end they will treat you the same.
 
ive never experienced being "pirated" or pulled out of my band to join their's... yes, i have heard some ppl say that they want me to be their bassist, but never directly.

oh well... it comes to say that in my part of the world, ppl do tend to expect bassist to just ride the root note, and nothing more... any attempt in adding things to that root note, the guitarist would start glaring at you *lol*

You`re famous now, gettit?! :) Just take it as a compliment and be nice, if your band should ever break up, you can contact the others you feel attract you.

Those being rude....well that tells you everything, doesn`t it?

2 or 3 a day?! You must be getting famous!

I'll just ditto what everyone else has said...
 
I wish I got that many offers!

But then again, there's not much of a music scene here - only students who like cheese and dance and pop-rock.

It sounds like you're circulating in a musical circle with which I'd avoid
any involvement. Around here, there a some performers who are
problematic in one way or another, but there are many overlapping
circles of friends, so even if you tend to avoid some players, you never
badmouth them or their bands.

The players you are encountering already have two strikes against
them:

1. They are deceptive, two-faced assh*les.
2. They're not smart enuf to know when to keep their mouths shut.

I'd say it's "two strikes and you're out". Why look for three ???

BTW, badmouthing other bands or players is generally a sign of a lack
of talent and skills. Players with admirable levels of talent and skill are
NEVER hard on those who haven't caught up with them.

So there is their 3rd strike, whether you were gonna wait for it or not:
Skills-and-talent-wise, they are faking it.

I believe you. They would`ve made you play Fenders all the time, so no wonder you declined. 8)

I have the same problem with the ladies...

Seriously, if that many folks want you in their project, I'd at least take it as a compliment to your ability.

Dude! how many bands are they in Portland Area? I guess your Warwick log has made you famous. When I say Warwick log I say it in not a demeaning way I think i have read this is how you've described it here sometimes.

hey casey...

being in the portland area myself i know what you mean. however, there are bigger fish to fry so to speak. if you are with a band/project that you believe in then stick with it and give your all to it...it will pay off!

i have been fortunate to play in countless local bands...some phenominal and some up and coming. at the end of the day, however, it all comes down to what makes me happy. tell the other bands/members that you are happy with what you are doing and if that ever changes you will let them know.

that does 2 things:

1: it let's them know you like what you are doing now and...

2: it shows them that if you ever do end up playing in their band that you are there because that's where you want to be and that you are loyal (which goes a lllooonnnnggg way)
