What's with the crappy hardware?

I was actually looking into the Hipshot UltraLites myself...



The Gold just doesn't look bright enough though... :lol:
I'm a bit OCD and would LIKE the new tuners to match
my current color of Gold hardware though.

I'm with ya on the OCD with regard to the bass. :) I'm like that too. I want it just so, and if it's not, it bugs heck out of me. I guess that's why I don't compromise on this stuff - I keep looking til I find exactly what I want.
 
The Hipshot Ultralites aren't NEARLY as dark as that picture, in my experience. They aren't as light as Warwick gold hardware either. If you couldn't tell from the photo, they have a matte finish to them as well, and the gold doesn't wear away fairly quickly like the Warwick ones seem to do (no offense everyone ;) ). They're fantastic tuners as well. I'm most likely going to swap tuners to Ultralites when I can afford to get a Warwick again.

The Hipshot Ultralight in the long post clover leaf design is what I'm putting on my custom Jazz.
Hipshot make a lot of reputable products in my opinion

Sorry mate if my post offended you somehow. I just replied to your question "are any pros using them?"
Actually in march I had 31 concerts, and music is my only income... My bass is like always in trucks with tons of equipment, and I use only one bass. Rarely you will see basses more abused than mine. Still except unscrewing from time to time, I had no problems with my straplocks. Or other piece of hardware.
You asked, I answered.

Speaking of which... Flo — has your X-bass got any dings and dents yet?

No, you didn't offend me at all. You answered the question quite nicely. That part about my bass being a cheap Chinese knockoff was me trying to be funny. Fortunately, I'm a slightly better bassist than comedian. ;) I was just curious if others who played a lot, or played pro (for a living) used their Warwicks, and if they had any trouble with their stuff.

I was looking the other day at how many shows I played last year (it's tax time), and it worked out to 124, or about 10 a month. You did 31 shows in March, wow. That's a lot! :)

By the way, I went to your band's website, and I like the music! I don't understand the language, but I like the music anyway. Is the CD available in the US?

Hehe, sure mate! One in the top horn, and one paint ding on the top of the neck at the 12ve fret.
And some scratches, but who is counting.
Oh, and the barts are smaller than the MEC's and I fixed them with some pieces of paper, it looks horrible :-)

I think Flo might have missed this...

some battle scars already beginning to take shape.

Something about a possible crack in the paint/finish?

It's to be expected, even with a high end custom like
that, the riggers of touring are unforgiving to all pieces
of equipment... Even the most beautiful. :d

I havent had a problem at all with the strap locks on my Taranis other than the bottom Strap holder came loose, and was fixed with the toothpick remedy previously mentioned.
Playing in a Metal band requires me to move around like a moron all the time, so strap locks for me are manditory!
 
The only problems I've run into was the screws not being strong enough. They bent on my Corvette and on my Jazzman on the strap at the back of the bass.
 
My bass doesn't have the normal wick ones- it has MASSIVE "T" shaped ones that once you put the strap around them it almost never comes off. No BS, and they are as solid as a rock. I would like to know if Warwick still sells them as an option, because I would ditch the strap locks that come with Wicks if I bought a new one... I don't trust the standard ones (or any strap locks for that matter... besides a large washer...)
 
I second that on the flushmounts.Absolutely loved them on the Fortresses.
I've got a better solution than toothpicks guys. Buy a small dowel rod at the hobby store. Get the one that fits tight or slightly over size. Put alittle Elmers Glue on and slide it in. Shouldnt have to mess with it again.
 




Fender washers, 50 cents.

101% effective used in combination with
toothpicks and glue.

Ask your doctor if you are healthy enuf
to use fender washers.
