What Year did Corvettes start being made?

Does anyone know what year the corvette models were started? I have a '96 Proline. I bought it used at a music store. I was told a very good semi professional jazz player owned it before me. It had two EMG's installed and was converted to 18 volt instead of 9 volt and custom action by a local luthier. It is an absolute Joy to play and any bass player who has ever picked it up falls in love with it. Numerous offers to buy it on the spot after playing in fact.
 
Proline? FNA? Streamerettes?

Frankly I'm not too clear on the chronology of things...
 
As far as I know the first bass to be called a Corvette was the ´91 limited edition of the Streamer Corvette. In ´92 the Corvette proper was introduced, I think Standard (passive) and Pro Line (active) hit the market pretty much at the same time, but I´ll try to find out more with the help of my old magazines.
 
I found a review of the Corvette in the German Fachblatt magazine, issue 9/92. Though it´s clearly a passive bass it´s called a Pro Line. I also found an ad in a magazine in early ´93 featuring an active Corvette Pro Line, so that must have been around as well.

As Florin says. :wink:

The early Proline was just like a Standard, passive with an Ash body.
Wengé or Maple neck.
Some had a Cherry body too.

When the Standard was introduced, the Proline changed and become just like today Proline's (Maple body and active electronics).
 
Ok, Which means that my 96 Standard bubinga is from the first year of production.... Sweet! :)
