What type of finish is this?

Hey guys!

I have a doubt regarding my SSI fretless finish.
I would like to make it shine again, but I'm not shure about the method.
I have seen some refinishing works you guys did , but first need to know which type is mine...:shock:

I post some pics the previous owner sent me.





Is this a Natural oil finish or a Stain High Polish one? Sorry, but I'm not shure...

I think this pic was taken a long ago when it was new and shiny so you can tell me which type of finish is this and how to restore it if possible.
Also the bak of the neck look a litttle dirty. Tips?

Your help would be really apreciated!

Looks like natural finish to me!!

All it needs is a bit of warwick wax!

I thought it was High Polish and that I cannot wax it...
Is the factory standard SS1 always natural oil?

Sorry, but I don't want to ruin the finish in case is not natural.

By the way, I was watching your Jamiroquai youtube vids, great playing man!

yes your finish is the natural oil so all you need to do is buy some warwick wax and it'll shine in no time :)

I feel exited about waxing it now!
Any tip to clean the back of the neck?It has some dirt on it...
Also the headstock looks a little grey, may I wax it too?

Then, to polish the harware which is your recomendation?

try rubbing the back of the neck with a slightly damp cloth to clean it then you can wax that too.

for the fingerboard rub it down with a cloth and some lemon oil. this will clean it and make it look great

i dont think you can polish the front of the headstock as its not wood. just buff it with a cloth (slightly damp wouldnt hurt)

ive never polished the hardware but you could get some cleaning cloths for brass instuments and use those (they work great on the frets too)

I did lemon oil on the ebony fretboard, really nice, it brings the black back!!!
I´m not pretty shure about how much wax it needs, but I´ll go from a little amount...

I have a stage 1 which is lacquered. I can see it on two spots where there's some wear from slapping/popping.

Also I tried to wax a small part of the body but the way just stays on top of the finish and doesn't get into the wood. The surface is actually shiny on my SS1.

The pictures you posted in the first post looks very much like natural finish. Wax needed! You also write that the neck is dirty. That's a sign of the natural finish as well as the dirt gets into the pores if you're not waxing it properly. You can carefully sand the neck to get rid of the dirt. Just use a 800 grid paper and wax it properly afterwards.

Scuba, your pics really helped, since your neck is shiny and mine has some dirt, I can assume mine is natural.

Need to find warwick wax here in barcelona, have to order it.

Grid paper = sand paper?
I have to go to a store here in spain, but have to know how to ask for it.
