I went to see The Police last night at the NIA in Birmingham. Having been a Police fan for many years it was awesome to finally see them play and something that I never thought that I'd see.

I couldn't say it was the best gig I'd ever seen but it was definitely one that I'll remember, particularly as it was just the three of them.

Stewart Copeland has been my fave drummer for many years and it was a blast to actually see him play - he just oozes personality and flair when he plays and man does he play hard! :shock:

Whilst I really like Stings bass playing, his sound was just too woolly for my liking - it needed some mids to actually punch through a bit more.

Favourite songs of the night were Next To You, King of Pain and So Lonely, which all worked brilliantly live.

dude, when I saw your post I thought your bass was stolen and you went to the police to report it lol

I ve seen Sting with his band this summer, he came from Cyprus too during his tour. Didnt pay attention to his playing that much as is a more of a band situation overall, the drummer rocked btw.
 
Interesting stuff... I was a bit of a Police fan a long time ago...

Some 3 pieces have an extra couple of guys playing instruments at the back, good for them if they didn't!

Stewart Copeland is manic... if I was a drummer, I'd be thinking... Wow! that's the way to do it!

... Sting should get a Thumb!
 
For the years I played drums,Stuart Copeland was one of my top 3 influences.Amazing drummer.

Indeed. But best drummer EVER = Steve Gadd :) I'm also a fan of the late Jeff Pocaro (RIP)

Have you heard his playing on some of the Nik Kershaw albums? Between him and Vinnie Colaiuta - some of the finest session playing.

Many people kinda dismiss Nik Kershaw but if you listen to albums like The Works or Radio Musicola there's some absolute genius in there.

Actually, no. I was listening to Slayer. A bit too loud.
