Warwick Xtreme 10.1 and 611 cab?

Hey there, im currently a bass player living in New Zealand in a "3-piece band". I currently got offered this rig on a special price brand new, "Warwick Xtreme 10.1", with, "Warwick pro 611cab". I was just wondering if this amp would be good for my uses. We like to have alot of OOMPH in the band to drive us, as we are a 3 piece band. Im not a fan of bass distortion. I just like a BIG, clean sound. We play mostly Blues, Blues/Rock, john mayer type of stuff. All sorts reali. We never go as high as metal/heavy metal though. Be much appreciated with your input.

Also got offered a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 with a warwick pro 611 cab. Anyone had any experience with the Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0? Would it be suited for my uses as i said above?

Hey,

I own the Xtreme 10.1 and a 611 Neodymium Cab. The power of the Xtreme is fantastic and the sound is increbibley clean (depending on the EQ settings) but it I always have it nice and clean.

As for the Genz Benz I have used the 6.0 before and its nice If you want to save space but I would go for the Xtreme because it has a superior sound and power.

This is of course all in my own opinion.

Hey thanks man. Im definitely leaning towards the Warwick Xtreme at the moment. How does the Warwick take different basses? Im using a Roland GR-88 bass guitar from the 80s. Don't know if it's a GR-88 or GR-33. But its a Bass guitar synthesiser controller, but don't have the synth module with it sadly enough :/ Anyway. STupid question, but just wondering if the Warwick Xtreme 10.1 will take an old bass like the Roland well (Just because i can :P) ? It has an active pick up btw. Takes 2 9v batteries :/
 
Hey man. This probably a silly question.

But i got offered a Rack for the bass head (Warwick Xtreme 10.1) for $150 (i think). Is it worth it???? Do I really need it????
 
I think the price is right if it is a decent flightcase. You need a rack to carry and protect your head, it was designed for that.

Haha thanks mate :D Well i have no idea if it is a decent flightcase. But we will see. I have never played a Warwick rig, but I'm going to be trying it next Monday. Does it have a warm sound?? I know its not gonna be as warm as a tube amp. But warm enough to suit our style of music?
 
I defintely recommend a rack case. I have the same amp and it is built like a tank. BUT the dials could snap off if you catch them hard enough, and there are vents on the front, back, top and sides. So if you want to keep the rain off and just protect the dials, a rack case is a very good idea. I use a SKB case and it is very solid. After a few years when you look at the case with all it's scratches and chips, just think that could be on the amp itself.

Also the handy thing with rack cases is if you get one big enough, you can put a rack tuner, wireless receiver or whatever inside. I've mounted a power lead in the back too so I have an extra long cable with the amp already plugged in and connected to the tuner. Or if you want to do what I should do, get a power conditioner in the rack to protect your amp from surges.
