Warwick straplock problem and solution

Hi guys,

Normally I prefer the cheaper Boston straplocks. They have two nuts, which lock eachother. Bit for my Warwicks, I use the Warwick straplocks. And I have/had this problem.

Because the locks are round, it's hard to get the nuts very tight. So once in a while I tighten them with my fingers, during gigs, sound checks or rehearsals. A couple of weeks ago i had a gig and when I took my Warwick out one of the nuts was dissapeard. It wasn't in my gigbag either... No strap locks = nog gig, but I found a solution. I first put my strap around the strap button. Then I mounted the straplock, without the nut. The lock is quite wide and my strap won't get off. I did some rehearsals and gigs in this way. Insert the lock and the wide rim of the lock will prevent the strap from sliding off:
 
i put mine together and used thread locker,i switched straps and what a pain to get it to come apart.next time i'll just buy new straplocks and leave the old strap alone.
 
I'm honestly not a HUGE fan of the Warwick/Dunlop ball bearing style strap locks. I prefer the Schaller/Pro Rock Gear style. I constantly had to tighten the hex nuts on my Warwick locks, over two weeks wth the PRG's on my P and Zon, not once have I had to tighten them.
 
I just went through my SECOND set of Warwick straplocks....I ordered a pair of Dunlop straplocks earlier in the week. I know it's the same style, but they get good reviews. I only use the one bass at this point. I should just not use straplocks. lol

Thou they both use ball bearing, they are different. The Dunlop works much better for me than the Warwick. And there are no nut that needs to be tighten periodically on the Dunlop.
 
That's the way I was using it too. Also, the bridge part does not really needs the locking part, because of the angle. I stopped using it a time ago :-)

Indeed, I just don't like ball bearing systems. My guitard player uses them.
 
I tightened my W strap locks on once,with a spanner,& they havent moved.
