Warwick 5 string balance.

Hi folks, anyone know of the best balanced 5 string Warwick out there. I've tried a Thumb bolt on 5 string and Streamer Jazzman 5 string and personally found them to be too neck heavy for my liking. I'm really digging the sound of the basses it's just the ergonomics don't agree with me. I've currently got two 4 string wicks but I'm finding I'm needing that low B string!

My thumb is balanced perfectly... Because I bought it off a guy that had strap locks installed.

I believe that keeps it from diving.

warwick made in my eyes a huge mistake by replacing the pin to the middle of the body.
i mostly play older wicks with the pin placed higher than the present position and they balances great. even my 5string thumb with the famous neckdive fits perfectly.

just get your dreambass and don't care bout neckdive! you still can replace the pin

Yeah, it's just when the bass isn't centrally weighted I get an uncomfortable pressure on my LHS shoulder (and I do use a padded 3.5 inch strap aswell). Both my wicks are '98 year models and have their rear strap position higher as you've said. Mmm, something to investigate I think, cheers!

Haven't been here while - hello everyone. I've owned a few Wicks in my time - nearly all Streamers. I've found the 4 stringers balance fine but I once owned a 5 string LX broadneck with the strap pin in the centre. Moved it higher myself. It left that small hole (that I filled with glue and sawdust) but it fixed the neck dive for me.
