hi im think of buying a new bass a vampyre but i dont know wat one to get soo could you give me soem feed back on the difrent vampyres
i play a lot of metal but i also like playing soft dark sort of stuff so help me out thanks
 
You have 3 choices: the set-neck, the neck-thru, and the bolt-on. The SN (maple body/ovangkol neck/wenge fretboard) has been discontinued, but just recently, so you can likely still find one new. The NT is maple over ash/maple/ebony. The BO is ash over ovangkol/ovangkol/wenge. From the woods perspective, they are all very different basses. It's worth noting that the BO a.k.a. "Dark Lord" is set up for a low F# tuning. If that appeals to you, your decision is easy. If not, you're down to deciding which woods and price tag fits you better... Good luck!
 
If you are down to the choice between the SN and NT keep in mind that the SN will have a more signature warwick growl because of its ovankol neck whereas the NT will have a more agressive highs and deeper lows.

I definetley recommend the SN-model, as it is incredibly versatile. It`s maybe not the bass you bring for a jazz-gig, but it would surely do the job there too. I suck at slapping, so I won`t touch that field, but my small attempts reveals a really heavy slap tone, with snappy highs. Recommend DR Hi-beams if you play with your fingers, to get that crispy tone.

Sound: my conception of its sound has changed over time, with what amps I use and strings I put on. Live, the Vampyre is always present.
Even if you don`t notice it, you will if you suddenly stop playing. Thight bottom (heh!) -end, and mids and highs that really stays in the mix without taking completley over.

Then there`s the looks, man. People always complement the looks, even though I find the piano-black finish a little dull over time, it looks great on stage. You might want to consider something else there.

A good leather strap is recommended, as some neckdive will occur.
