Hi to all you folks out there. I need an advice because I'm going to buy in the next 24 hours a used Thumb BO 4 string that shows the serial:1224030000BZOVAOWW.
The problem is that I browsed the Warwick site and found in the "FAQ's" section an idication about what should be a typical serial number on a bass and found the code "C-456789-08" or similar. The serial on "my" Warwick is very very different...so the question for you all is: is this a valid serial? It is a true Warwick bass or not?
Thank you all in advance for your help! ciao

Hi Mate!
My wicks have the D-008554-01 type of serial. I think Warwick repected this form over the years, but maybe Florin can confirm this.
I would recommend you to try to see the bass or at least get pics also where the serial is.
Try to get as much info as you can from the seller.
Good luck!

The serial should be at the back of the headstock... the number you were given looks like a model number, something that is on the "dogtag" that is on a new warwick bass...

(yup, indeed, 1224030000BZOVAOWW is the part number of the Thumb BO 4...)

+1. Jan's got it. That was the first thing to come into my head.

Someone's confused the model id with the serial number!

OK

Thank you all for the help. Tomorrow I will see the bass and for sure I will check the back of the headstock...thanks again! ;)

the first "1" means it is a standard bass, not CS. CS basses have "0"

yesss Florin, this is correct. The Wick that i'm buying is a standard bass. The only other thing that I can see fron the pictures are: the presence of a Just A nut II, the slightly different colour of the neck compared to the beautiful Oangkol body (brighter grain wood), the weared bridge screws taht have lost parte of their black paint, MEC two band active electronics, wenghe fretboard without any position marks.
In my personal opinion these are standard features for a Thumb but if someone does not agree please tell me !
By the way, wonderful friedly support here at the forum. Thanks! ;)

It looks a standard Thumb BO :-)
But remember, here we have a rule: No pic, no bass!
You better take the picture with today's newspaper :-)

/Florin
