Last night I've been to a concert of a famous italian band, the bassist opened the soirée with a Warwick Triumph in blue color. Nice.
The same day I've ordered from the States my brand new NS Design CR4-M upright in amber finish. Stunning. Time to stand up, folks.

I want an upright, until I can afford one tho im just using my schools various uprights.

I had one, but couldnt afford to keep renting it... but it was so nice... stunning action...
 
I've got a real one.

There is no equivalent.

I am going to get me an electric upright though at some point. It's a nightmare to keep dragging around :roll:

I don't know but maybe I could manage to record something for you to listen once it arrives. In the meantime a good sample could be something from Eric Mingus.

My upright teacher said he liked it for Pizzacato but he said Arco was very weak on the bass... is this because of the strings or the electronics? Im curious because i've heard that said about the triumph before...
 
Your teacher sounds like a Classical player. This bass was originally designed at a time in history in which many jazz and blues bands were starting to use more electric guitars and playing bigger shows, the Triumph was a solution to making the bass cut through and look like part of the band.

I'm by no means trying to say that your teacher is wrong, but wether you like the sound of an instrument is a very subjective matter. Me, personally, having one at home myself, have to say that when I think of bowing with an arco, this is not the bass I think of, I actually have never tried it myself, I use this in many unplugged shows and jazz gigs, it works awesome for that.
