Hi,
time to take my home training equipment to a higher level. I feel that playing along CD's and mp3's is not effective enough.

Any ideas / comments / suggestions for a good drum machine system. Meaning: ideally i could do (or as i am a lazy person, buy or download) drum pattens of songs (preferably Iron Maiden = good practice).

All comments highly appreciated

I use GuitarPro5 you can turn off all other intruments and leave the midi drum track on. Its also nice if you wanna learn some songs fast without ears ;p

The zoom rhythm track drum machines are worth checking out.

I've been using Guitar Pro for years, and recently bought GP 6; it's the best training tool i could ever have had! I'd recommend buying a copy of 6, but there are torrents of gp5 as well.

You can do anything and everything with it, it'll even teach you rhythm theory and improve your meter without you knowing it :-P Nowadays any tab you look up will probably have a guitar pro version as well as good ol' ASCII anyway

On a freebee level i found some tab sites have a tab player, which is basically tabs and crappy synth lines of most of the parts. you can switch off the parts as you need. good for hearing what the line is is the recordings are indistinct but most useful as a drum machine to play along to. Good for 'cramming' learning new songs in a hurry.

@Augie: You got any links to sites with this tab player? Sounds interesting...

An alternative to Guitar Pro might be Tuxguitar, it`s free, but hasn`t all the features of Guitar Pro.

You have any recording software available? There are lots of good sounding drum plugins, like the Toontrack products oder Addictive Drums by XLN Audio. For each you can get lots of MIDI-files. in different styles. If you already got something like this, I would recommend oddgrooves.com and groovemonkee.com for MIDI-Files, they have tons in good quality.

Ketzi, i found some on fretplay.com, its a bit basic (BuT FREE :))

Thank you for your posts... i bought BOSS JS-8 8:
