I have to say, it's absolutely the best sounding bass I've ever heard/played in my life. Extremely punchy and clear. I couldn't be happier. My Mesa M-Pulse 600 comes in this week and I can't wait to hear how it sounds on a proper amp. Right now I'm using a little Peavey keyboard amp that's farting out, but the difference is still remarkable compared to the loaner bottom line Spector I was using.
Here you can see the maple veneer separating the bubinga pommele' from the ovangkol bottom.
Sorry for the quality of the pics, but the pics on my iphone actually came out better than with my digicam. I guess it's time to upgrade. Here you can see a nice dark streak of grain that runs up the length of the neck. It's actually present on both sides of the neck. There is no signature or tag on the back of the headstock, leading me to believe that this may have been a custom, although it is a 2001. If someone can help me figure out what the deal with this is, I'd greatly appreciate it. It has all the specs of the 2001 Bolt-on LTD, yet doesn't have the tag on the back of the headstock. :?:
At this point, I have removed the strings, polished the frets with Brasso, conditioned the fretboard with lemon oil, sanded the body and neck with 220 grit, 320 grit, and finally Scotch-brite. I was able to get rid of those gouges from the previous owner's pick attack. I rubbed the dust off and coated the neck and body with boiled linseed oil, then applied one coat of Warwick beeswax. Here you can see a hint of the dark marks that looks like smudges but actually aren't, see next pic:
Second coat of waxing/buffing. The wood grain has an amazing 3-D, "shimmering" quality to it. Compare this pic from the previous one, these dark points in the wood actually appear, shift around, and disappear as I move around the room.

Also, I added another coat of wax last night and she sucked it up like a sponge. The wood grain came out further and the reddish color deepened. I think it had been awhile since anyone had waxed her.
Thanks to all the members who took time to give me solid advice on the best way to give this bass a new life. Any insight and additional info is always appreciated. I'm looking forward to picking up a 5 string Warwick one of these days!
