uh wtf?

Yeah, I was checking that thing out last week. I'm curious about the whole 'mahogany tone block' concept, but I'm not sure what I think of the push-button selectors. The humbucker/single-coil/single-coil version (not pictured in that link) looks pretty interesting...

I think the body looks amazing, but don't like the contrast of the maple neck. I'd like a nice dark neck on it. Or maybe a lower price tag....

Well, I'll be the first, and possibly the only (but I doubt that) to say. I think the bass is ugly! It fact, in my opinion its down right foogly. For those not familar with the term foogly allow me to expain.

There are actually 3 classifications of ugly, those being... Ugly, Fuggly and foogly. Ugly needs no explanation. Ugly is ugly. Then we got Fuggly. and Fuggly is Frickin' ugly, with Frickin' being used in place of a word that is more foul and offensive, so I thought it best not to actually use it here. However, if there ever was a place that word should be used, describing Frickin' Ugly is the perfect place for it. Finally we come to Foogly. Now, Foogly is four times uglier than Fuggly, and we all know that Fuggly is Frickin' ugly. and yes, I think that bass is foogly.

I hate it too haha

I'm interested to hear them, not interested in playing one standing up. Looks like a no-balance design.

me rikey ...
i mean i like it

:)
i'd happily own one - love my stingray

I like,
ive found two definitions to Fugly.
1. is ♣♣♣♣able ugle, means there ugly but somehow you could still do them, or in this case play.
2. ♣♣♣♣ing Ugly, well its just really ugly and well you cant see any way around that.

Looks interesting, the body doesn't look too bad (in fact, its kinda nice) but the control knobs look cheap and no bass - EVER - should have push buttons like a friggin playstation controller.

specially not one that costs that much....think i'd rather have an infinity

It should be named the Coyote.

You all know why ......

Did I mention I'm awaiting arrival of one
more Boingo ? I did ?!? Oh, goooood ...

And +1 about buttons. Buttons are never
as sturdy and reliable as regular toggles.

At least they're not those trashy little slide
switches like on the F3nd3r Jaguar. Those
are the absolute most worstest, unreliable
excuse for a switch ever made. I spoze it's
a good space saving switch for, say, the
speaker phasing on your stereo, nice and
compact and you only use it maybe once
in every five years, so it oughta last 15 or
20 yrs in that application.

Looks better than the Bongo!!! Seriously, How do you know if it has balance issues, this forum is starting to sound like TB. If you havent held or played one how the F do you know??
Dont be so One eyed! Open the other one once in a while!!!! Just look at the single cutaway thread on this forum!!

Id like to try it!

There's being one-eyed then there's being logical.

That bass just doesn't look appealing to me either, ergonomically, aesthetically or anything, and I like EBMM basses :(

I'd play the 'hog 'ray before touching one of those.

+1.I'm glad someone said it.

Well, I never said anything about it's balance or it's potential playability or lack there of, so I am trying not to take any comments personally. However, I think the reference to being like TB is way out of line. This is one of the most open forums I have seen when it comes to discussing basses and equipment other than its particular mfg, Warwick in this case. To state an opinion that a bass is ugly or looks like it may have balance issues is simply someone's opinion and they are entitled to it. And I am sorry, but I think that bass is ugly. And I would think that no matter what brand it was or who may or may not play it. So I hope I wasn't being placed in the same class as the TB snobbery because of that.

Not at all mate, Its just when something new comes along, everyone tends to bag it before they know anything about it. Nothing directed at you personally. My point is, Play it then bag it if required!! Everybody has an opinion & mine are usually the ones that make people upset! For example, I think the bongo is the most ugly abortion of half a car & toilet seat mated together (sorry golem), :roll: but they sound good! ;) My opinion! But I made that opinion after I played them! The reference to TB is the "Bag it first" mentality. Not to mention the snobbery that we are well aware of. :evil::x

My 20cents (infaltion)

Rusty

Can someone post a pic of a bongo, i wanna know wat all the fuss is about!!

Some designs seem to work great for guits, and not for basses. Don't know why. I love the Les Paul guit, but the bass? Not so much. Same thing goes for the Telecaster, which the MM here is a descendant of.

Balance

Lookit. Your PK is one of a tiny posse of EBMM
fans here. Now, many EBMMers are also GnL
fans. I hadda part with my GnL ASAT 4-string
due to balance issues but the L2000 4-string,
and even the L2500 5-string, are keepers, no
balance problem. The Keepers have a normal
top horn. The ASAT is a styling exercise with
Tele-style body. "ASAT" is a 'vindictive' name
like Wick's "FNA". "ASAT" = "Almost Same As
Tele". "FNA" = "[search this forum for it]".

Now over in MusicManLand, like GnL, all MM
basses have approx the same necks on their
various body styles. This new "Tele-style" ax
is almost certainly MM's ASAT, a stylistic bass
that will, by experienced judgement, balance
about as poorly as the ASAT ... but is a bid to
garner a cult following such as the ASAT most
definitely already has.

The important difference between a GnL ASAT
and this new MM is that the ASAT is strictly a
style thing. The GnL L2000 is the exact same
bass but with a top horn. EBMM loaded their
new "ASAT" with unique stuff so you CANNOT
just choose a Sterling or Ray to get that very
same bass but with better balance.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Style often trumps common sense. Imagine
those 40 ft long stretch limos, full of stylish
club-hoppers in outfits not very comfy for a
lotta dancing, and inside there's a band with
a MM Bongo bass. It's a Triple Whammy. The
limo "should be" a minibus, the club-hopping
garb "should be" more comfy for dancing and
the Bongo "should be" repainted matte black
so you can't see it [but still wanna HEAR it!].
Finally, if the bass player is ugly enuf even a
fugly ax can look not-too-bad by comparison
unless, of course, that bass is painted like a
pimped out Hummer:
